Gray Zone Warfare 0.5, the Rogue Ops update, releases on October 22, 2026, with Supporter Edition owners getting in three days early on October 19. MADFINGER Games calls it the biggest step yet for its tactical shooter: it moves the game from pre-alpha into alpha, adds a Hideout and crafting loop, lets you go rogue as a smuggler, and brings the game's first soft wipe.
MADFINGER has now released two of its three Rogue Ops devlogs, the second on October 11. Here's everything the studio has confirmed so far: the release date, how the wipe works, new weapons and locations, the health and AI changes, and what's still to come.

When is the Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 release date?
Update 0.5 releases for everyone on October 22, 2026. MADFINGER confirmed the date when it revealed Rogue Ops on October 1 and has repeated it in every post since, including the October 8 hotfix notes. No exact unlock time has been announced yet. The studio says it will host a livestream on release day "featuring an in-game event with special guests".
What is the Supporter Preview?
Owners of the Supporter Edition can play Rogue Ops from October 19, three days before the full release, to help find and fix remaining issues. MADFINGER says progress made in the Supporter Preview carries over to the full release. The preview kicks off after a Q&A livestream that follows the third devlog.
Is there a wipe in Gray Zone Warfare 0.5?
Yes, but it's a soft wipe, the first in the game's history. MADFINGER chose a partial wipe instead of a full one so it can rebalance the economy without making players grind from scratch.
- You keep: completed tasks, rank, unlocked apparel, vendor levels and statistics.
- You lose: the contents of your locker and your money.
- One big choice: the first time you enter the Supporter Preview or the full release, you pick whether your existing progression goes to PvE or PvEvP. MADFINGER says this is irreversible. Your faction stays the same.
What's new in Gray Zone Warfare Rogue Ops?
Rogue Ops introduces a new gameplay loop built around a Hideout and crafting. For the first time you can also become a rogue PMC and take part in new smuggling activities. MADFINGER is saving the full Hideout and crafting breakdown for its third devlog, due this week, alongside technical improvements, optimisation and new anti-cheat measures.
What's already confirmed is that crafting will matter from day one: Tracking Tags and Stims are no longer sold by vendors and must be crafted or found, and new tasks are tied to the Hideout, smuggling and hunting.
Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 new weapons and attachments
![]()
The October 11 devlog lists seven new weapons:
- AUG (including the AUG A3)
- Benelli M4
- G3
- G36
- FAMAS
- UMP
- Glock 18C
They come with 370 weapon parts (new colour variants, extra parts for existing platforms such as the AKS, and parts for the new guns), 6 camo variants, 22 collimators and two magnifiers (4x and 6x). Each new weapon has its own inspect animation.
Some other gunplay changes are worth knowing about:
- Most new weapons are found in the world rather than bought from vendors, and rare builds with low drop rates have been added.
- Weapons now match where you find them: LLA units guarding drug labs carry different guns from their counterparts elsewhere on Lamang.
- The suppression effect returns, reworked so incoming fire feels dangerous without blurring the whole screen.
- SP and HP ammo now cause larger wounds than FMJ and AP rounds.
- Camos have more realistic colours and patterns for Lamang's environments.
New locations: Lakevale Sanctuary, Northern Reach and RLSL-1

Rogue Ops adds three "enormous" high-difficulty Tier 4 Points of Interest:
- Lakevale Sanctuary, an asylum
- Northern Reach, a military research site
- RLSL-1, a radio observatory
There are also 15+ smaller locations, including drug huts hidden in the jungle, apartment buildings, Khmer temple ruins, Rocky City and underground tunnels. MADFINGER is adding traps and environmental puzzles across the island, plus a new three-tier hacking tool that bypasses electronic locks to reach restricted areas. Voice recordings and televisions now react to the player, and footsteps sound different depending on the surface.
Visually, the update brings improved lighting, a rebuilt cloud system, smoother sunset-to-night lighting and HDR display support.
Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 health system changes
The first devlog (October 4) covered a streamlined health system designed to make healing "more intuitive and less tedious":
- Healing now works per body part, not per wound. Several breaks in one leg need one splint; two broken legs still need two.
- Bleeding has new limits, giving you a slightly better chance to stop it, plus a new bleeding visual effect.
- Blood bags and drinks are measured by volume, so you only use what you need.
- Military-grade supplies are generally better than civilian ones, some items are limited to certain body parts (no tourniquets on the head or torso), and a surgical kit can fix broken bones, organ damage and bleeding at once.
- The health panel explains injuries and treatments more clearly, and stim buffs get icons.
Can you have multiple characters in Gray Zone Warfare?
From Update 0.5, yes. You can create up to four characters per account, each with its own game mode (PvE or PvEvP) and faction, and PvE and PvEvP now have separate progression. To prevent exploits, you can't have two characters with the same mode and faction combination, and you can delete only one character per week.
AI, audio and Combat Outpost changes
- Smarter AI: every AI NPC can now bandage itself, and selected factions throw grenades. AI is tougher in Tier 3 and the new Tier 4 areas, and respawns faster around new activities.
- Audio: reworked M4 and AK family gun sounds, new distant gunfire, new NPC voice lines (some recorded by Lao voice actors), spatial audio fixes, and no more time limit on proximity voice chat.
- Combat Outposts: the largest COPs are no longer capturable and have temporarily become regular locations, COPs are spread more evenly to cut down on PvP hotspots, and the Vulture vendor is now on the normal vendor screen.
- Economy: less high-value loot spawns around the world, so money should feel more meaningful.

How much is Gray Zone Warfare, and is it on PS5 or Xbox?
Gray Zone Warfare costs $39.99 / £34.99 on Steam for the standard edition, with higher editions available as upgrades. It's in Early Access on PC only; MADFINGER hasn't announced PS5 or Xbox versions. Steam user reviews are Mostly Positive (about 73% of 79,000+ reviews), and MADFINGER said in September that the game had sold 1.7 million copies.
PC requirements haven't changed for 0.5 so far. The minimum is an Intel Core i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 2600 (AVX2 required), 16GB RAM and an 8GB GPU such as a GTX 1080, RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700, on an SSD. MADFINGER recommends 32GB RAM and an RTX 3080/4070 or RX 6800 XT class card.
