Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 Rogue Ops Is Out: Patch Notes, Soft Wipe, Hideout and New Weapons
Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 Rogue Ops is out: patch notes, soft wipe, Hideout, smuggling, 7 new guns, Tier 4 areas, a 35% sale and 293 cheaters banned.

Gray Zone Warfare 0.5, the Rogue Ops update, is out now. MADFINGER Games released it for everyone on 22 October 2026 (version 0.5.0.1), three days after Supporter Edition owners got in through the Supporter Preview. It's the fourth major update for the tactical shooter and the biggest yet: a Hideout and crafting loop, smuggling and hunting, up to four characters, three new Tier 4 areas, seven new guns and the game's first soft wipe.
MADFINGER announced the update was live at about 5pm BST (12pm EDT), with a full changelog that runs to hundreds of fixes. The base game and every edition are 35% off until 5 November, and the studio has already permanently banned 293 cheaters caught by its new detection tools. Here's everything that's in the patch notes.

Is Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 out now?
Yes. Update 0.5 released for everyone on 22 October 2026, the date MADFINGER gave when it revealed Rogue Ops on 1 October. The studio posted the full 0.5.0.1 changelog on Steam when the update went live, at about 5pm BST (12pm EDT), and marked the launch with a livestream with creators and an in-game event. The Rogue Ops Twitch Drops campaign started the same day.
How did the Supporter Preview go?
Supporter Edition owners played Rogue Ops from 19 October on the "supporter-preview" Steam branch, and their progress carried over to the full release. The preview turned up some problems that MADFINGER fixed before launch: a hotfix on 21 October (0.5.0.0 (1)) stopped some servers freezing and fixed vendors being downgraded, and the release build restored vendor ranks to their pre-update values, fixed proximity voice chat outside your squad, cut how often AI throws grenades and fixed blurry visuals for players whose NVIDIA app didn't recognise the game. As a thank-you, every supporter gets a camo weapon chosen by a community vote (Benelli M4, AUG, G3, Glock 18C or L403A1).
Did Gray Zone Warfare wipe in 0.5?
Yes, but it was a soft wipe, the first in the game's history, which MADFINGER now calls a seasonal soft wipe. The studio chose a partial wipe so it could rebalance the economy without making players grind from scratch.
- You kept: completed tasks, rank, unlocked apparel, vendor ranks and statistics.
- You lost: your equipment, the contents of your locker and your money.
- One big choice: the first time you load into 0.5, you pick whether your existing progression goes to PvE or PvEvP. MADFINGER says this is irreversible. Your faction stays the same.
- No more account wipes: instead, you can start fresh by making a new character in another faction or mode.

What's new in Gray Zone Warfare Rogue Ops?
Until now, Gray Zone Warfare's loop has been tasks, fights, loot and vendor reputation. Rogue Ops adds a second gameplay loop built around building a Hideout, crafting and producing goods, and taking on risky smuggling jobs that let you build a reputation as a rogue PMC. MADFINGER says it sets players "on the path to Ground Zero", the mysterious area at the heart of Lamang.
The patch notes list these key features: the Hideout, crafting, smuggling and hunting, multiple characters, new major and smaller locations, a "Living World", new anti-cheat measures, a streamlined health system, 7 new weapons, new AI behaviour and animations, new tasks, reworked Combat Outposts, economy balancing, better lighting and clouds, and optimisation.
Crafting matters from day one: Tracking Tags and Stims are no longer sold by vendors and must be crafted, and there are new Main Tasks, Long-Term Contracts and tasks tied to the Hideout, smuggling and hunting. New Chameleon tasks can be found in magazines.
How does the Hideout work in Gray Zone Warfare?
The Hideout is a new progression path, and this is its first version; MADFINGER plans to expand it in later updates. You unlock it once you reach certain vendor ranks. It has two production rooms and a utility room:
- Laboratory: crafts medical items and stims, and produces other chemical substances you can sell or use in more complex products. Its resources come partly from raiding drug huts hidden around Lamang.
- Electronics Workshop: disassembles electronic devices to extract valuable intel and crafting materials, which are used to make tracking tags and hacking tools.
- Utility Room: powers the two production rooms.
Each room has several stations that you build and upgrade to expand what you can produce, and they change visually as you upgrade them. Building materials come from the world, from crafting, from vendors or as task rewards.
How does crafting work in Gray Zone Warfare 0.5?
You find crafting materials and recipes around the world, then craft items based on how far your Hideout has progressed. You start with basic materials and products to sell, then unlock more valuable items and tools such as stims, tracking tags and hacking tools. You can sell what you make to vendors for a lower but safe payout, or smuggle it for a bigger reward.
What does the hacking tool do?
The universal hacking tool comes in three tiers and opens electronic locks secured by keypads and card readers, without needing a key or code, as long as the right device is in your inventory. In some cases, hacking is the only way into an area or a locked safe.
What are smuggling and hunting in Gray Zone Warfare?
Smuggling contracts are time-limited jobs: you prepare high-value cargo from resources your Hideout produces, collect a contraband backpack from its pickup point and deliver it to a set location. Successful runs pay money and vendor reputation.
- Accepting a smuggling job alerts players from opposing factions and creates Hunting zones on the map where smuggling is under way.
- Hunters can try to intercept smugglers and earn experience and vendor reputation.
- MADFINGER's devlog said the contraband backpack is visibly identifiable and that you have one hour to deliver once you accept; the contract fails if you die or run out of time.
- In PvE, smugglers face AI enemies instead of other players.
Loot has changed to support the new loop: high-value loot spawns less often so there are more ways to earn money than looting, there are more hidden stashes, and wood can now be found at the Sawmill.
Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 new weapons and attachments

The patch notes confirm seven new weapons:
- AUG (including the AUG A3)
- Benelli M4
- G3
- G36
- FAMAS
- UMP
- Glock 18C
They come with 370 new weapon parts for new and existing guns, according to the full 0.5.0.1 changelog (its summary and the Supporter Preview post say "340+"), plus two new weapon categories (semi-automatic shotguns and bullpup rifles), 6 camo variants, 22 collimators and two magnifiers (4x and 6x). Each new weapon has its own inspect animation.
Some other gunplay changes are worth knowing about:
- Most new weapons are found in the world rather than bought from vendors, and rare builds with low drop rates have been added.
- Weapons now match where you find them: LLA units guarding drug labs carry different guns from their counterparts elsewhere on Lamang.
- The suppression effect returns, reworked so incoming fire feels dangerous without blurring the whole screen.
- SP and HP ammo now cause larger wounds than FMJ and AP rounds.
- Weapons and weapon parts are 40% more durable, and new weapon presets can be unlocked by completing specific tasks.
- Camos have more realistic colours and patterns for Lamang's environments.
New locations: Lakevale Sanctuary, Northern Reach and RLSL-1

Rogue Ops adds three "enormous" high-difficulty Tier 4 Points of Interest:
- Lakevale Sanctuary, an asylum
- Northern Reach, a military research site
- RLSL-1, a radio observatory
There are also more than 15 smaller locations, including drug huts (which you can raid for Laboratory resources), apartment buildings, Khmer temple ruins, Rocky City and underground tunnels. MADFINGER is adding traps and environmental puzzles across the island, plus a new three-tier hacking tool that bypasses electronic locks to reach restricted areas. Voice recordings and televisions now react to the player, and footsteps sound different depending on the surface.
Visually, the update brings improved lighting, a rebuilt cloud system, smoother sunset-to-night lighting and HDR display support.
Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 health system changes
The health system has been streamlined so treatment applies to a whole body part rather than each injury. These are the main changes in the patch notes:
- One splint now treats both fractures in a leg; bandages can treat several body parts in one use, and hemostats and tourniquets stop bleeding from all body parts.
- Bleeding is reworked: each body part is a single bleeding source, the rate depends on the ammo and what was hit (flesh, organs or bone), and bleeding rates are lower across the board, giving you more time to finish a fight.
- Blood bags and drinks are used by volume, so you only use what you need, and higher-quality and military-grade medical items work faster.
- Light wounds disappear after 60 seconds; arm injuries reduce arm stamina and cause tremors, and leg injuries reduce body stamina.
- Stims can't be bought any more: they have to be crafted. A better health screen adds new symptom and stim buff icons.
Can you have multiple characters in Gray Zone Warfare?
Yes, from Update 0.5. You can create up to four characters, each tied to one game mode (PvE or PvEvP) and one faction, and you can't have two with the same mode and faction. You can delete one character per week. Account wipes have been retired: if you want a fresh start, you make a new character in a different faction or mode instead.
AI, audio and Combat Outpost changes
- Smarter, deadlier AI: enemies acquire targets faster, use cover better, treat their own wounds, come looking for you if you stay hidden, and some factions throw grenades (after the preview, MADFINGER limited how many they carry and how often they throw). AI soldiers also hunt down players lying in a coma to finish them off, and AI is harder in Tier 3 (Fort Narith, Midnight Sapphire, Tiger Bay) and the new Tier 4 areas.
- Living World: out of combat, NPCs now drink, check their phones and go about daily routines.
- Audio: reworked M4 and AK family gun sounds, better distant gunfire, surface-based footsteps, new NPC voice lines (some recorded by Lao voice actors), and the 30-second limit on voice chat is gone.
- Combat Outposts: major COPs are temporarily decommissioned (they stay in the world but can't be contested), minor COPs are spread more evenly, and Vulture is now a regular vendor at base camp and COPs.
- Other changes: you can no longer move when carrying excessive weight, terrain around base camps was changed to stop enemy players sniping into them, and weapon and part durability is up 40%.
Is Gray Zone Warfare doing anything about cheaters?
Yes. On launch day, MADFINGER said its improved cheat detection in Update 0.5 had already caught 293 accounts cheating during the Supporter Preview and the first hours of the public release, and all of them have been permanently banned. That follows a Security Report on 16 October 2026, when it banned another 1,239 accounts from the Update 0.4 cycle.
The game uses several layers of protection: MADFINGER's own in-house tools, Easy Anti-Cheat and Anybrain, with more in-house measures added for Rogue Ops. Since 0.5, you get a notification when someone you reported is suspended, and MADFINGER asks players to keep using the in-game report system. The studio has also said a Code of Conduct page is coming to its website.
Does Gray Zone Warfare 0.5 run better?
MADFINGER says it does. The patch notes list these technical changes:
- The game now runs on Unreal Engine 5.7, with fewer hitches and stutters and up to 10% higher FPS in MADFINGER's internal benchmarks (its devlog quoted an RX 6700 XT going from 65 to 75.4 FPS and an RTX 3050 from 53 to 62 FPS).
- Fixes for performance on AMD RDNA 4 graphics cards, various memory leaks, a crash with DLSS Frame Generation and over 100 other crashes.
- HDR display support, better lighting, clouds that cast shadows on vegetation, and denser rain on higher presets.
- Separate scope sensitivity settings and adjustable magnification slowdown.
- A fix for Linux players getting an Easy Anti-Cheat client violation after launching the game.
These are MADFINGER's own numbers, so real-world results will vary with your hardware and settings.

How much is Gray Zone Warfare, and is it on PS5 or Xbox?
To mark the launch of Rogue Ops, the base game and every edition are 35% off on Steam, MADFINGER's lowest price yet. The Standard Edition costs £22.74 / $25.99 / €25.99 (down from £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99) from 22 October at 6pm BST (10am PDT) until 5 November at 6pm GMT (10am PST). You can also upgrade to a higher edition; the top Supporter Edition adds cosmetic apparel, a morale patch, extra equipment, the largest locker and lockbox, and early access to future major updates through the Supporter Preview.
Gray Zone Warfare is in Early Access on PC only; MADFINGER hasn't announced PS5 or Xbox versions. On launch evening, Steam user reviews were Mostly Positive (72% of almost 80,000), and about 15,500 people were playing on Steam. MADFINGER said in September that the game had sold 1.7 million copies.
The minimum PC specs are an Intel Core i5-8600 or Ryzen 5 2600 (AVX2 required), 16GB RAM and an 8GB GPU such as a GTX 1080, RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700, on an SSD. MADFINGER recommends 32GB RAM and an RTX 3080/4070 or RX 6800 XT class card.
