This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on igamemag.com, what each one does, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Some are essential for the site to work. Others help us understand how the site is used. Under UK and EU law (UK GDPR, EU GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), we only use non-essential cookies if you agree to them.

Your choices

If you visit from the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, we ask for your consent the first time you visit. You can accept all optional cookies, reject them all, or choose by category. We remember your choice for 12 months, then ask again.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and when you withdraw analytics consent we delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then not work as expected.

Necessary cookies

These are needed for the site to work, to keep it secure, and to remember your cookie choice. They don’t need consent and can’t be switched off.

Editors who log in to manage the site also receive WordPress and security cookies. These are never set for readers.

Analytics cookies (optional)

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to see which articles are read, how people find us and how the site performs, and Microsoft Clarity to see how readers use our pages through heatmaps and session recordings of clicks and scrolling. Clarity hides anything you type, and we use these insights only to improve the site. If you don’t consent, Microsoft Clarity is not loaded at all, and Google Analytics may only receive limited, cookie-free signals that can’t identify you.

Google’s use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Microsoft’s is described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement and the Clarity cookie list.

Marketing cookies (optional)

We don’t currently run advertising on iGame Magazine. If we start, marketing cookies (for example Google’s _gcl_au, 90 days) would let Google measure and personalise ads, and they would only be used with your consent.

Embedded videos

Trailers are shown as a still image until you press play. Videos are then loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com). Once a video is playing, YouTube may store information on your device under its own privacy policy.

Site statistics without cookies

Cloudflare, which delivers and protects our site, measures basic performance without cookies and without identifying you.

When you make a choice, we keep a record of it so we can show that consent was given: a random ID, the date and time, your choices, the policy version and the country code reported by Cloudflare. We do not store your IP address with this record. Records are deleted after three years.
