Editorial Policy

How iGame Magazine sources and fact-checks stories, credits images, uses AI tools and corrects mistakes.

Last updated October 10, 20269 sections

This page explains how iGame Magazine researches, writes, illustrates and corrects its articles. It applies to everything we publish.

Who is responsible

iGame Magazine is owned and edited by its founder, David Ware (Managing Editor). David is responsible for what we publish and for this policy.

Sources and fact-checking

  • We base our reporting on official sources: publisher and developer announcements, official blogs, store pages (Steam, PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Nintendo eShop, Epic Games Store) and official trailers. Where there is no official information, as with many game guides, we cross-check reputable gaming publications.
  • Release dates, launch times, prices and platform details are checked against the official source before publishing.
  • When information is unconfirmed, such as a leak, rumour, or a detail reported by only one source, we say so clearly and explain where it comes from. We don’t present it as fact.
  • We link to our sources so readers can check them.

Use of AI tools

We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Every article is checked, fact-checked and edited by David Ware before it is published, and the facts in it come from the official sources described above.

Images

We use official screenshots, key art and trailer stills from publishers’ and developers’ press kits and store pages, and sometimes our own screenshots. We credit official images to their owner, for example “Image: Bandai Namco”. If you own an image we’ve used and something isn’t right, email us and we’ll fix or remove it.

Reviews

We publish three kinds of review, and each one is clearly labelled. Scored reviews are our own verdict, with a score out of 10, pros and cons. Critics’ roundups summarise what other publications have said, with their scores; they are not our own verdict. First looks cover products we haven’t fully tested. We never present a roundup or first look as a hands-on review.

Keeping articles up to date

Release date and “everything we know” articles are updated as new official information arrives. When we make a significant update, the article shows an Updated date.

Corrections

We aim to get things right first time, but if we make a mistake we fix it promptly.

  • To report an error, email [email protected] with “Correction” in the subject and a link to the article.
  • We check every report against the original source. If we were wrong, we correct the article and update its date.
  • If a correction changes the meaning of a story, we add a note at the end of the article explaining what changed.

Independence

Our editorial decisions are made by iGame Magazine. We don’t run adverts, we don’t use affiliate links, and no one pays us for coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be clearly labelled as sponsored.
