Warzone Season 1 goes live at midnight ET on November 6 (05:00 GMT / 06:00 CET, or 9pm PT on November 5), and it's one of the biggest updates the free-to-play battle royale has had. Activision is fully integrating Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 into Warzone, adding the large Hajin Battle Royale map in South Korea, a new Zodiac Resurgence map, Elite Perks, Weapon Augments and new gear like the Zipline Launcher and Grabber Drone. Activision laid it all out in its Season 1 overview on November 2.

What time does Warzone Season 1 start?

Activision says Season 1 "goes live at 0000 (midnight) ET on November 6 (2100 PT on November 5)". The US clocks went back on November 1, so that's:

  • US Pacific: 9:00pm, Thursday November 5
  • US Eastern: 12:00am, Friday November 6
  • UK (GMT): 5:00am, Friday November 6
  • Central Europe (CET): 6:00am, Friday November 6

Modern Warfare 4's Season 1 starts at the same time. Expect a large download beforehand; Activision will post full patch notes on the Call of Duty patch notes page.

What is the new Warzone map Hajin?

Hajin takes Warzone to South Korea for the first time, in a region tied to the Modern Warfare 4 campaign. Hajin City's central districts have tall buildings, barricaded roads and fortified spots that reward coordinated squads, while rural areas such as Imjin Farmland are open ground for long-range fights. DMZ players will know the map already, but the Battle Royale version has a different gas circle, no radioactive cloud at the Hanuel Nuclear Reactor, different vehicles and different loot.

The Hajin Gulag comes in two versions with different cover, both affected by the weather, and for the first time you can spectate from ground level while you wait.

What is the Zodiac Resurgence map?

Zodiac is a compact map built around the DRC Advanced Systems drone factory headquarters. It was made by Beenox with Infinity Ward, the team behind Rebirth Island and Vondel. Its ten points of interest include Admin (the central tower), Trackline (a double railway with moving trains) and Furnace, plus Solar, Old Mines, Dispatch, Depot, Sentinel, Cooling and R&D. Underground tunnels, moving solar panels, conveyor belts and explosive fuel barrels add new routes and traps.

What's changing in Warzone with MW4 integration?

  • Player level reset, with optional Prestige across Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone.
  • All 33 Modern Warfare 4 launch weapons, plus Season 1 additions, each with Weapon Prestige and Warzone Mastery Camos.
  • Tactical Sprint for everyone without a Perk, though slightly shorter.
  • Drag to revive: you can pull a downed teammate out of harm's way while reviving them.
  • Weapon balance tuning, better visibility on all maps and improved footstep audio.

Can you still use Black Ops 7 and MW3 weapons in Warzone?

Yes, as Legacy Weapons. Everything from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 stays in the Legacy tab of the Loadout menu, but you can't edit them in Gunsmith and they don't get MW4 features like Mastery Camos or build codes. Each comes as a five-attachment version, and your existing Legacy Blueprints keep their setups, but they start locked and unlock with Player XP in the Armory. A new Operator Skin Toggle also lets you control which older Operator skins you see.

What are Elite Perks in Warzone?

Season 1 has 18 Perks: 15 you pick in your Loadout across three slots, and three new Elite Perks that you can only find during a match, at Buy Stations or from Supply Run Contracts. They add a fourth Perk slot, and you can only equip one at a time:

  • Athleticism: more agile when strafing, crouching and aiming, with smaller penalties for jumping and sliding.
  • Phantom: undetectable by enemy recon Killstreaks, equipment and Perks.
  • Fieldcraft: rapidly regenerates armor and equipment.

What new gear is in Warzone Season 1?

  • Zipline Launcher: a Field Upgrade that opens new routes for your squad, and enemies can ride it too. You can fire your pistol while ziplining.
  • Grabber Drone: a remote-controlled drone with a claw.
  • Weapon Augments: CQC (faster aiming and sprint-to-fire), Marksman (bullet velocity and range) and Handling (reload and recoil).
  • Resurgence extras: a Weapon Trade Station to upgrade your gun's rarity, and four Drop Kits (Insured, Loadout, Armored, Radar) for your next redeploy.
  • New killstreaks including the Bomb Glider, Combat Drone and Impact Warhead, plus pushable cover and moveable fuel barrels.

What modes are in Warzone Season 1?

Battle Royale (and Casual) runs on Hajin and Verdansk, and Resurgence (and Casual) on Zodiac and Rebirth Island. At launch there are also three limited-time modes:

  • Rally Point (Zodiac, 20 players): no circle, endless Resurgence, drop in and out, with neutral ground to form alliances. Activision hints a Nuke may even be on sale for high-kill squads.
  • Massive Resurgence (Hajin, 120 players): a good way to learn the new map.
  • Loaded Resurgence (Zodiac and Rebirth Island, 44 players): start with your Loadout and keep your weapons after death.

Rockets and Snipers and Extreme Resurgence follow at mid-season.

Is Warzone free?

Yes, Call of Duty: Warzone is free-to-play. On PC it runs through the Call of Duty app on Steam, where about 110,000 people were playing when we checked on November 3. Modern Warfare 4 is a separate purchase. For what MW4's multiplayer was like in the beta, see our Modern Warfare 4 beta review.
