When is the On The Train release date?

November 12, 2026, in Early Access on Steam. There's no launch time or price yet.

How does On The Train work?

  • Build your train: expand your shelter on a train you can stop at will to gather resources, scavenge and explore, and turn it into a stronghold as threats grow.
  • Survive: manage hunger and thirst, heal your wounds and deal with harsh weather and terrain.
  • Loot and craft: scavenge abandoned places and ruined buildings and craft your own gear.
  • Defend: set traps and reinforce your defences against relentless waves of zombies and other enemies.

Is On The Train co-op?

Yes. You can survive alone or join forces with friends in online co-op and build the train together. The demo added voice chat.

Is there an On The Train demo?

Yes, a free demo. Its July patch reworked building around the Wrench (equip it and press B to open the build menu), added a crowbar for melee, rebalanced zombie difficulty and fixed looting through walls. An earlier patch made the train use less fuel and water, and EastUp said in March that the game had passed 20,000 wishlists.
