How to Get The Fish in V Rising: Drop Rates, Best Spots and What It’s For

The Fish in V Rising is the rarest fish in the game. Your best chance is fishing in the Cursed Forest (about a 1.6% chance), with Brighthaven Docks a distant second (about 0.5%). Servants sent hunting in those areas can rarely bring one back too. Unlike other fish, you can't feed it to prisoners: its only use is salvaging it in The Devourer for 20 Gold Jewelry, 50 Oil and 200 Silver Coins. Here's how to find it.

How does fishing work in V Rising?

Equip a Fishing Pole and look for small patches of disturbed water in lakes and streams. Cast in, wait for the line to start bubbling, and only then reel it in. Besides fish, you can pull up blueprints, gems and crafting materials that match the zone's tier.

Where is the best place to fish for The Fish?

The Cursed Forest, in the top right of the map, has the best odds. It's a late Act II region, recommended for gear level 63+, and it's the only place you can catch Blood Snappers and Swamp Dwellers too.

The forest applies a Curse of the Forest debuff that builds quickly. At 100 it cuts your view distance and fogs your map. Release a wisp to clear it for a while, or wear the Shroud of the Forest cape to block it for good.

Can you get The Fish at Brighthaven Docks?

Yes, but the odds are lower, about 0.5%. Brighthaven Docks in the Silverlight Hills is still worth looting for its other rewards, so treat The Fish as a lucky bonus there.

Can servants find The Fish?

Yes. Servant hunts in the Cursed Forest and Brighthaven Docks can rarely bring back The Fish. Servant hunts to fishing areas such as the Fishing Lake, Mosswick Village and the Oakveil Shoreline are a good way to collect ordinary fish while you play.

What do you do with The Fish?

Salvage it in The Devourer (unlocked by beating Lidia the Chaos Archer) for 20 Gold Jewelry, 50 Oil and 200 Silver Coins. Other fish can be fed to prisoners to keep them healthy, or salvaged in a Blood Press for Oil and Fish Bones, but The Fish works only in The Devourer.

Because it's so rare, don't farm it on purpose for the materials. Fish normally, and treat The Fish as a lucky bonus, or keep one as a trophy.
