How did the Enshrouded 1.0 launch go?
Very well, by the numbers available on day one:
- Players: more than 64,000 people were playing at the same time on Steam on launch day, and that's before counting the new PS5 players.
- Reviews: Enshrouded's overall Steam rating stays Very Positive at 86% of more than 107,000 reviews. Of the 100 most helpful reviews posted on launch day, 96 recommend the game.

Enshrouded on PS5 vs PC: what's different?
The PS5 version is PS5 Pro Enhanced and supports DualSense vibration and trigger effects. The biggest difference is group size: the PlayStation Store lists up to 8 online players on PS5, while PC supports up to 16. Online play on PS5 needs PlayStation Plus. The PS5 version is rated for moderate violence, in-game purchases and user interaction.
How much is Enshrouded 1.0?
On Steam, Enshrouded costs $39.99 / £34.99, and it launched with 10% off until October 29, bringing it to $35.99 / £31.49. On the UK PlayStation Store, the PS5 version is £32.99, or £29.69 with PS Plus until 4pm on October 29. Early Access owners on PC don't pay again, and they get three exclusive decorative props for their base through Redeem Add-Ons.
Is Enshrouded 1.0 cross-platform?
No. Keen's launch FAQ says Enshrouded won't have crossplay at launch. The studio is working on bringing cross-platform play to the game but has no estimate yet for when it will arrive, so PC and PS5 players can't play together for now.
What players are saying about Enshrouded 1.0
![]()
From the most helpful Steam reviews posted on launch day:
- C-137_MrMeeSeeks, with around 650 hours in Early Access, says Keen "restored my faith in Early Access games" and praises it as one of the most responsive developer teams they've seen.
- Capr1ce (367 hours) puts it among their top games of all time, alongside Skyrim, for its handcrafted world and atmosphere.
- Ripley calls it the best building system they've seen in any game.
- Intellect Inside, with more than 1,600 hours, loves the world and building but still finds the combat frustrating, especially enemies that sprint and lunge.
- Performance is the most common complaint: Michaeliszt reports frame rates jumping up and down, and DannyDaDeer doesn't feel the optimisation has improved.
Keen says 1.0 runs better and uses less memory than before, so if you hit performance problems, it's worth re-testing your graphics settings with the new renderer.
What's next for Enshrouded?
Keen calls the story of Embervale concluded "for now", adding that the Shroud still lingers and the Fell still want more territory. The studio has confirmed it is working on crossplay, and it describes Sparkworks and Adventure Sharing as tools it will keep building on, letting players create and share their own adventures. No post-launch roadmap or Xbox version has been announced yet. We'll update this article when Keen shares its plans.
