PUBG Update 44.1 arrives on PC on November 4 and on console on November 12, and its biggest change is a U-turn: KRAFTON is ending the LMG Meta Rotation early, putting the M249 and MG3 back to how they were before August. In a dev letter the team admits LMGs "became a stronger option than we intended". The patch notes also make vehicles tougher, add trunks to vans and buses, bring a Nightmare difficulty for Dawnbreakers of Rondo and Xeno Point: Hell, start Ranked Season 44 and launch a PUBG x IVE collaboration.

When is PUBG Update 44.1 live?

KRAFTON's maintenance schedule (times may change):

  • PC: Wednesday November 4, 00:00–08:30 UTC (00:00–08:30 GMT, 01:00–09:30 CET; 7pm–3:30am ET on November 3–4).
  • Console: Thursday November 12, 01:00–09:00 UTC (01:00–09:00 GMT, 02:00–10:00 CET).

The servers are offline during maintenance, and the update goes live when it ends.

Why is PUBG ending the LMG Meta Rotation?

The first Meta Rotation started in August. KRAFTON picked LMGs because few people used them as main weapons, and gave them big buffs, planning to run each meta for about four months. It went too far. LMG use "exceeded our target", players found them stronger than intended, and there was "substantial negative feedback". Because LMGs handle like assault rifles, they simply replaced players' usual guns. They also made driving more stressful: vehicle explosions, tyre destruction and BRDM metrics all changed after August.

A September patch toned LMGs down, and by October they were the second most-used class among short and mid-range weapons. KRAFTON has now decided to end the rotation in November instead of December. In 44.1, LMG reload time, recoil, aiming speed, vehicle damage, stance-based recoil control and world spawn rates go back to their pre-August values. The RPD, added in August, stays but is balanced to match the other LMGs.

Is PUBG getting rid of Meta Rotations?

No. KRAFTON says it "does not mean we are abandoning the concept". It will rethink how big each rotation should be and how often the meta changes, and "return with a new Meta Rotation in 2027".

What vehicle changes are in PUBG 44.1?

  • More health: +8% for bikes, scooters, buggies, quads, boats and gliders; +10% for cars such as the Dacia, UAZ, Mirado, Pickup and Zima; +15% for the Porter, Pico Bus, Van, Food Truck, Pillar UAZ and BRDM-2.
  • Tougher tyres: +7.5% (Buggy, Pillar UAZ, Quad), +30% (Zima, UAZ, Blanc, Rony, Pickup) and +75% (Porter, Food Truck, Van, Pico Bus).
  • BRDM-2: better acceleration and hill climbing, and a higher top speed.
  • Buggy: more tyre grip, so less sliding.
  • Trunks: Van, Pico Bus and Food Truck get a 300-capacity trunk, and the Coupe RB's trunk grows from 100 to 120.

Items on the ground are also spaced out so they don't overlap or hide behind each other.

What are Nightmare mode and Xeno Point: Hell?

HLB: Dawnbreakers of Rondo returns with a single Nightmare difficulty, only in a burning Jadena City, with stronger Hungers that spawn more often and earlier, more fuel canisters needed for the generators and a tougher final defence. It's balanced for four-player squads, but you can join solo. PC: November 4 to November 25 (07:00 UTC); console: November 12 to December 3.

Xeno Point: Hell replaces Normal, Hard and Impossible with one Hell difficulty that ramps up by sector. Enemy health and rewards scale with squad size (1–4), and dying now randomly removes one of your equipped weapons or gear. PC: November 18 to December 2; console: November 26 to December 10. Both modes have leaderboards on PUBG Bridge.

What else is in PUBG Update 44.1?

  • Ranked Season 44: leaderboards reset, a permanent P90 Ranked weapon skin, and higher minimum standards for Platinum and above. Season 43 rewards arrive when Season 44 starts.
  • Console controls: tap-or-hold detection drops from 0.3 to 0.2 seconds for actions like going prone, and the Message Radial stays open after you release the right stick. PC gets this in 44.2 in December.
  • Matchmaking: better skill-based matchmaking in Normal matches (waits may be longer at some times). Some console modes close (NA Solo and Duo FPP, APAC Duo), and some regions get daily hours.
  • PUBG x IVE collaboration, PGC 2026 themes on the starting plane and billboards, and darker destruction textures on Rondo.
  • Crates: some old crates and keys will be removed in 44.2 in December, with BP or G-Coin compensation. Steam Market trading of those items is now restricted.

Is PUBG free to play?

Yes, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is free-to-play on PC and console. It's still one of Steam's most played games, with about 608,000 people playing when we checked on November 3.
