Dragonwilds 1.0.1 is out now. Jagex released the first big post-launch update for RuneScape: Dragonwilds on October 14, 2026, and it leads with fixes for the disappearing world saves that have hit some players since the 1.0 launch, plus a catch-up option for corrupted characters. It also adds a jump attack, new special attacks for the Shortbow, Longbow and Crossbow, a bigger inventory, dedicated ring and amulet slots, and a long list of bug fixes. Here's everything in the patch, and what's still broken.

Does Dragonwilds 1.0.1 fix disappearing saves?

That's the main goal. Jagex says 1.0.1 includes "a range of fixes" targeting the disappearing world saves players reported after launch. For anyone whose character save was corrupted, there's a new catch-up mechanic that lets you drop back in with aggregated stats and Tier 4 gear, so you're not starting from nothing.

Jagex is honest that it isn't fully solved: a "very, very small" number of players may still hit other save issues it's collecting data on, and "some Corrupted World Saves are disappearing" is still on its known-issues list. If you've lost a world before, see our 1.0.0.8 article for the background on the save bug.

What is the Dragonwilds jump attack?

Unlock the "Death From Above!" perk in the Skill Tree, and any time you're a little above the top of your double jump's arc, pressing attack slams you down onto enemies below. Damage scales with your equipped weapon, so heavier weapons hit harder, and it works with Windstep too.

New ranged special attacks in 1.0.1

Each ranged weapon type now has its own special attack:

  • Shortbow, Rapid Fire: hop backwards and loose three quick arrows. You can switch targets mid-volley to spread the damage.
  • Longbow, Power Shot: take a knee and draw to full strength for a staggering, very powerful long-range shot.
  • Crossbow, Heavy Bolt: rack a bolt and fire after a short charge. It hits hard and applies Enchanted effects on hit.

There are new ranged perks too. Ammo Recovery (and later Greater Ammo Recovery) gives a chance to recover arrows from slain enemies, and Low Blow makes leg hits apply Hamstrung, slowing the enemy for a short time. Tiny and Colossal enemies are immune. Rune arrows and bolts now out-damage Adamant (4.9x versus 4.2x).

Inventory, quests and quality-of-life changes

  • Inventory space goes up from 32 to 40 slots.
  • New dedicated Ring and Amulet slots, suggested by players.
  • A new Completed Quests tab with a short summary of how each quest ended.
  • Better sorting by Weight, Type and Latest, and a fix for sorting chests on controller.
  • An Ultra Compost Bin and a Large Compost Bucket with more capacity.
  • Overdrive can now be cast on the Advanced Spinning Wheel.
  • A toggle for the Visceral Attack Camera, and UI Scaling on every platform.
  • Enemies have a shorter aggro range and stay dead longer after you clear an area.
  • The Amulet of Glory has been toned down, as it was giving more than intended.

The biggest Dragonwilds 1.0.1 bug fixes

The full list is long. Highlights:

  • Players who picked up quest items early in someone else's world (such as Imaru's Head) can now progress to the next region.
  • PC players with emojis in their name can now join PS5 and Xbox hosted worlds.
  • Dedicated servers: fixes for placing foundations where one was destroyed, for Epic Games Store players not seeing servers, and for players not registering after a reset.
  • Keyboards no longer freeze after teleporting, and the mounted map now opens properly.
  • Kuldra now drops Ascension Cores correctly, and the Regicide achievement unlocks.
  • Exploits and skips in the Scorned Wilderness raid have been closed, and obstacles and enemies now respawn on each run.
  • It no longer rains inside player houses.

Dragonwilds 1.0.1 known issues

Jagex posted a known-issues list on October 15 and promised a hotfix for the two worst problems:

  • On controller, some players can't skip the "Corrupted Save" warning on the main menu. Players report that repeatedly pressing accept, or reconnecting the controller, gets past it.
  • Ranged special attacks can crash dedicated servers when hitting some targets.

Also being worked on: the Air staff's fourth combo hit dealing no damage, splitting stacks in chests freezing the UI on controller, Xbox Series X hosted worlds only letting one player join at a time, inventory not carrying over when switching worlds, and some corrupted world saves still disappearing.

What's next for RuneScape: Dragonwilds?

Jagex says Dragonwilds is "the third pillar of the RuneScape series" and will be supported for years. The roadmap it revealed at RuneFest 2026:

  • Luminance (December 2026): a free update adding the Prayer skill, a magical Lyre for reaching hidden areas through Fairy Rings, elven cosmetics and a Prifddinas-style building kit.
  • Song of Rebellion (first half of 2027): the first chapter of the Blood Crystal Saga, adding the Hunter skill, new creatures and the corrupted city of Ailddinas.
  • Official modding (first half of 2027): creation tools and an in-game mod browser on all platforms.
  • Crown of Night: a later Blood Crystal Saga chapter, with legendary weapons like the Dark Bow. No date yet.

Is RuneScape: Dragonwilds worth playing now?

If you've been waiting for the save problems to settle, 1.0.1 is a big step, and the new combat options make fights more varied. It's a co-op survival crafting game set in the RuneScape world, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, and it's rated Very Positive on Steam (81% of more than 34,000 reviews). It normally costs $29.99 / £24.99 on Steam and was 30% off at the time of writing.
