ARK: Survival Ascended Enigmasaur and Giga TLC Are Out: How the Shapeshifter Works and What’s Next for Dragontopia

The ARK Enigmasaur is out now in ARK: Survival Ascended. Studio Wildcard's Community Crunch 531 also confirms the Giganotosaurus TLC is live, voted for by players through Extra Life, and the game has moved to Unreal Engine 5.8. The Enigmasaur is part of Fantastic Tames Season 1, alongside the Burrowbuck and the Cerberax.

What is the Enigmasaur in ARK?

A shapeshifter. Wildcard says it doesn't just imitate other species, "it becomes them", convincingly enough to fool their own kind. Every creature it mimics gives it something, and it keeps some of what it learns after changing form. Wildcard's example: "A Rex with a scorpion's sting?" Taming one is, in the studio's words, "its own unusual challenge".

What changed with the Giganotosaurus TLC?

Taming a Giga is no longer about finding a safe spot and stocking up on tranquilizers. You'll have to prove yourself against some of the ARKs' fiercest threats to get its attention, then survive a fight where pushing the beast to its limits matters as much as your own skill. The reward is an ally that can rally a whole tribe into battle. Wildcard warns there's "a fine line between fighting alongside an enraged Giga and standing in its way".

What's next for ARK: Dragontopia?

More reveals are lined up: two from HillbillyWilly's stream on November 7 at 7am PT (15:00 GMT / 16:00 CET), and the final two in a video on GP's channel on Monday, November 9.

How does the ARK Extra Life TLC vote work?

Donations to Studio Wildcard's Extra Life team go to UF Health Shands Children's Hospital. Every $40,000 raised unlocks a TLC for a classic creature, up to four, and each $1 is one vote when you add a hashtag such as #Giganotosaurus to your donation message. Winners are picked on November 13, 20 and 27 and December 4. Over $107,000 had been raised when the Crunch went out.

It's $44.99 / £37.99 / €44.99 on Steam, and was 75% off at $11.24 / £9.49 / €11.24 when we checked on November 7. About 23,000 people were playing.
