Abiotic Factor’s Year 2 Roadmap: Official Mods, a Winter Update and Entropic Break in 2027
Abiotic Factor's Year 2 roadmap: Community Update 5 brings official mods on PC, PS5 and Xbox, then a Winter Update and the Entropic Break DLC in Q1 2027.

Deep Field Games has revealed the Abiotic Factor roadmap for the co-op survival game's second year. It's built around four drops: Community Update #5 with official mod support, a festive Winter Update, the Entropic Break expansion (now due in Q1 2027) and a fourth, still-classified update. Here's what's in each stage, when to expect it and how modding will work on PC, PS5 and Xbox.

What is in Abiotic Factor Community Update #5?
Community Update #5 is "the Modding Update", and its centrepiece is the Mod Editor, bringing official mod support. The roadmap also lists:
- Mod items: create your own items, gear and more.
- Mod NPCs: create your own enemies and pets.
- An in-game mod browser to download and host modded sessions.
- A journal upgrade with a multi-quest system, which Deep Field will expand in later updates and DLC.
- A new pet: "a new foggy friend" from the mists of Anteverse 1.
- Balance adjustments, including damage reworks and item balancing, plus new head ties.
No date has been given yet. Deep Field says it's coming "soon", and that it brought this update forward because Entropic Break was delayed.
How will mods work in Abiotic Factor?
From Deep Field's modding FAQ:
- Mods are hosted on mod.io and found through an in-game mod browser on the main menu, which downloads and installs them automatically.
- Mods work on PC, Xbox and PS5: "everyone will have access to mods".
- The Abiotic Factor Mod Editor is a separate, free download for Windows, and you don't need to own the game to use it.
- Mods are compatible with existing saves by default, though some may be safer on a new playthrough.
- Mod collections are supported from day one, and joining a modded server checks that you're running the same mods.
What's in the Abiotic Factor Winter Update?
The second stage is a free seasonal update with the Brewing Bench for "fun and festive brews", a Tree Grow Plot to grow your own apples and more, and new festive feast recipes from the Carson Cookbook. Deep Field hasn't given a date, but the name points to winter 2026.
When is Abiotic Factor: Entropic Break coming out?

Entropic Break is Abiotic Factor's first story DLC. It was announced in June for Q4 2026, but in September Deep Field delayed it to Q1 2027 to "hit the quality bar" without cutting corners. The roadmap says it arrives as paid DLC alongside a free update, and lists:
- New sectors, including the GATE Leaf Test Facility.
- New portal worlds and "our biggest portal world yet".
- The Bounty of the Bahamas: new enemies, items and more.
- New sidequests and a new crossover.
- More free content: boats, pets, fish and more.
Price and exact date haven't been announced. Deep Field says the modding work is done by separate team members and external partners, so it isn't slowing the expansion down.
What is the fourth roadmap update?
It's marked Classified, with only "More info coming soon. You'll just have to wait!" We'll update this article when Deep Field reveals it.
Is Abiotic Factor worth playing in 2026?

Abiotic Factor left Early Access with version 1.0 in July 2025 and has an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam (96% of almost 60,000 reviews). It's a co-op survival game set in an underground research facility overrun by creatures from other dimensions, playable with up to six scientists. It costs $34.99 / £29.99 on Steam and is also on PS5 and Xbox.
