ZERO Sievert 2 doesn't have a release date yet, but it's confirmed for Early Access on Steam, and the developers have been revealing a lot about it since its announcement on April 30, 2026. The sequel to the cult top-down extraction shooter adds the feature fans asked for most: co-op for up to four players.

When is the ZERO Sievert 2 release date?

There isn't one yet. The Steam page lists ZERO Sievert 2 as "To be announced" and tags it as an Early Access game, so it will launch on Steam Early Access first. The developers haven't given a year or window. They've said they're "still early" and want to build "a strong, solid sequel" rather than rush it.

If you want to know the moment a date is announced, wishlisting it on Steam is the easiest way. You can also star it on the iGame Release Radar, and it will show up in your calendar as soon as it gets a date.

Is ZERO Sievert 2 co-op?

Yes, and it's the headline feature. ZERO Sievert 2 is being built with multiplayer co-op in mind from the ground up. You can hunt solo or with up to four players, and in co-op:

  • every Hunter earns experience,
  • everyone keeps their own gear and loot,
  • and each player can pursue their own quests during the same Hunt.

What is ZERO Sievert 2?

ZERO Sievert 2 is a top-down PvE extraction shooter set in the ruined country of Zakov. You head into the Zakov Exclusion Zone on "Hunts", fight anomalies, bandits and mutants, extract alive, sell your loot and gear up for the next run. Like the first game, it wears its inspirations openly: S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Tarkovsky's film Stalker and the Strugatsky brothers' novel Roadside Picnic.

Maps and procedural generation

Maps are procedurally generated from hand-crafted tiles, as in the first game, so the layout changes every Hunt. Fixed landmarks help you navigate, find loot and spot danger early. The team has shown a new Forest map, and the developers have teased Peaks among the new maps. Classic places from the first game return in a new art style, including Igor's House and the Boar Patch.

Conditions can change a Hunt in an instant: day turns to night, fog rolls in, blizzards cut visibility and acid rain makes every minute outside riskier. Special events can block routes, draw factions into open conflict or pull you into fights you didn't start.

Anomalies and relics

Anomalies are still Zakov's defining threat, and you'll test the path ahead by throwing bolts. They can be deadly, but they leave behind valuable crystals. New in ZERO Sievert 2 are relics: powerful objects linked to anomalies that give passive bonuses, and the strongest grant active abilities. Every use pushes a relic closer to destabilising, and if you push one too far it can trigger a Catastrophic Failure. More traps, including placeable anomalies tied to relics, are on the way.

Weapons in ZERO Sievert 2

  • More than 30 weapons to modify and maintain, from pistols and shotguns to assault rifles and long-range rifles.
  • Ammo choice matters: different rounds trade off penetration, damage and cost. Ammo stacks as in the first game, rather than magazines you load and swap.
  • Maintenance: neglect a gun for too long and it can jam at the worst moment.
  • New recoil system: separate horizontal and vertical recoil, attachments that affect each differently, and more variety between weapons.
  • Shotguns: a sawed-off and a pump-action so far, with more guns coming during development.
  • Mines are back as well.

Progression and skills

Your Hunter develops through four skill paths: Combat, Survival, Recon and Ingenuity. How you play shapes your growth, so aggressive players develop differently from players who scout ahead and stay quiet. Weapon Mastery grows with each weapon class you use, and Map Mastery is earned separately on each map.

What is the ZERO Sievert 2 story?

After your grandfather is gravely wounded, your search for answers pulls you into a struggle between three factions: the ruthless Zakov People's Army, the shady Crimson Corporation and the mysterious Church of the Grieving Star. They all want the same thing: to harness the power that made Zakov the Zone. There's a main quest plus faction quests, and the developers say the story is told "through doing, not just reading". The Barman is back, "still very much alive".

Your base: the Zero Sievert bunker

Between Hunts you return to Zero Sievert with your loot and improve your space. A makeshift hideout gradually becomes a proper base, and new traders and survivors arrive over time with fresh jobs and better equipment.

Other confirmed features

  • Inventory: a single grid in your backpack, with quick slots styled as your belt.
  • Looting: containers look like what they are (cabinets, medical boxes, military crates), and looted animals and ghouls show their pelts.
  • Fishing: not planned for now, though the team likes the idea.
  • Modding: designed in from the start, with more on tools and support during Early Access. The quest system is built so modders could eventually create custom quests.

The Steam page lists the recommended NVIDIA card as a "GTX 2060"; that model doesn't exist, so it almost certainly means the RTX 2060.

Is ZERO Sievert 2 on PS5, Xbox or Steam Deck?

Only PC on Steam has been announced. The Steam page lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense, but no console versions have been confirmed.

Who is making ZERO Sievert 2?

ZERO Sievert 2 is developed by Underdog, a small independent studio in London focused on co-op games, in partnership with CABO Studio, the team behind the original ZERO Sievert. It's published by Modern Wolf and CABO Studio. The developers say ZERO Sievert 1 still matters to them and will keep being supported.

ZERO Sievert 2 passed 200,000 Steam wishlists in under 12 weeks after its April announcement.
