SLASHER NIGHT: The VR Horror Game Where You Play the Killer, Coming to Quest and Steam
SLASHER NIGHT is a single-player VR horror game where you play the slasher, coming to Meta Quest and Steam VR. Release window, features and PC specs.

SLASHER NIGHT is a single-player VR horror game that flips the usual setup: instead of running from the killer, you are the killer. It's being made by the small indie team N0N (NON GameStudio) for Meta Quest and Steam PC VR, and it's coming soon, with Steam listing Q1 2027 and the Meta Quest store listing December 2026.
The developer emailed us about the game and has been sharing work-in-progress clips, so here's our Indie Spotlight: what it is, how it plays, and what's still to come. This is a spotlight, not a review. We haven't played it.

What is SLASHER NIGHT?
You start at home with an order from the mysterious Redstream Organization. The Steam page describes you as a killer working "as a Streamer" for them. Your job is to head out into Redcastle, a quiet suburban neighborhood, find your assigned targets and strike. The game's tagline sums it up: "Tonight, Redcastle belongs to you."
Redcastle is an open suburban area of homes, backyards, streets and dark corners, and the developer says the hunt goes across multiple levels. How you approach each target is up to you.
How does SLASHER NIGHT play?
The neighborhood reacts to you. According to the store pages, residents react, witnesses run and the authorities respond, and "the more chaos you create, the more dangerous Redcastle becomes". You're not untouchable either: you have to avoid capture and fight through resistance to finish the job.
In its emails to us, N0N said the focus is on NPC physical reactions, melee interactions and encounter decisions, the things that matter most when you're standing in the scene in VR. The Steam page tags it as a physics-driven, open-world immersive sim with a 1990s, cult-horror feel, and lists adjustable difficulty.

What has the developer shown so far?
N0N has been posting short work-in-progress clips on its YouTube channel and sharing new material with the press:
- Character visuals WIP: a 28-second clip comparing the old character models with the updated ones (above).
- Target Practice: an early gameplay clip from the Meta Quest and Steam PC VR builds.
- "The Triplets: Handcuff Tests": a 39-second WIP clip, added to the press kit on October 25, showing handcuff and character-physics testing with three sisters.
The developer is clear that the game is still in development. In its words, "bugs and unfinished features remain", and it plans to share a demo "when it's ready".
When is the SLASHER NIGHT release date?
There's no exact date yet, and the two stores currently disagree. Steam lists Q1 2027, while the Meta Quest store lists December 2026. Until N0N confirms a day, treat it as "late 2026 or early 2027". We'll update this article and our Release Radar when a date is announced.
A demo isn't available yet. The official site invites players to join its Discord for alpha tests, upcoming playtests and mods.
Which headsets will SLASHER NIGHT support?
- Meta Quest: Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S and Quest Pro (not the original Quest 1), standalone, no internet connection required.
- Steam PC VR: Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift S, Pimax and Meta Quest via a PC connection. The developer's site says the Steam version is "built with Steam Frame in mind", Valve's new headset.
What are the SLASHER NIGHT PC requirements?
Steam lists these minimum specs for the PC VR version:
| OS | Windows 10/11 64-bit |
| Processor | 6-core Intel Core i5 (9th gen) or AMD Ryzen 5 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1650 or AMD equivalent |
| DirectX | Version 11 |
| Storage | 5 GB |
Recommended specs haven't been published yet.
Does SLASHER NIGHT use AI?
Yes, in a limited way, and the developer discloses it. On Steam, N0N says AI-generated content is used for the cover art and decorative posters in the game. In its emails to us, it added that the narration in its character devlog video is AI-generated. The gameplay footage itself is real gameplay. For that reason we've used in-game screenshots in this article, not the cover art.
Is SLASHER NIGHT very violent?
It's a slasher game, so yes. The Meta store rates it PEGI 18 for extreme violence. On Steam, the developer describes the mature content as "retro blood particles and drawn stab decals", a stylized rather than realistic approach to gore. It's fictional horror violence aimed at adults.
