When is the GTA 6 release date?

Grand Theft Auto VI comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026, simultaneously on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar announced the date on November 6, 2025, and has repeated it in every announcement since, from the start of pre-orders in June to its October 2026 music and merchandise news.

Rockstar hasn't announced an exact unlock time yet. When pre-orders opened, they went live at midnight local time in each region, but Rockstar hasn't confirmed that launch will work the same way. We'll add the official unlock times for the US and UK here as soon as they're announced. In the meantime, the iGame Release Radar has a live countdown, and you can add the GTA 6 release date to your calendar in one click.

Has GTA 6 been delayed? The full timeline

Yes, twice. The GTA 6 release date has moved from 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 2026. Here's every date Rockstar has officially given:

DateWhat Rockstar announced
December 5, 2023Trailer 1 reveals GTA VI, "Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S"
May 2, 2025First delay: "now set to release on May 26, 2026"

November 6, 2025Second delay: "will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026"
June 18, 2026Cover art revealed; pre-orders announced for June 25
June 25, 2026Pre-orders open worldwide at midnight local time
August 27, 2026An Extended Look premieres on Netflix, then YouTube
September 17, 2026Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album announced
September 24, 2026The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection (Collector's Box) goes on pre-order
October 8, 2026First six radio stations revealed; GTA VI merchandise at the Rockstar Store
November 12, 2026Digital pre-load begins; physical copies available
November 19, 2026Launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

Explaining the second delay, Rockstar said: "We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve." For the first delay it wrote that it needed "this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

Will GTA 6 be delayed again?

Nothing official suggests it. Since November 2025, Rockstar has opened pre-orders, set a pre-load date, scheduled a soundtrack album and a Collector's Box for November 19, and announced the music and merchandise, all tied to that date. A third delay this close to launch would mean unwinding all of that. If the GTA 6 release date does change, we'll update this page immediately, and the Release Radar will flag it as a date change.

How much does GTA 6 cost?

These are the official prices on the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, which Rockstar links to from its pre-order page:

EditionUS priceUK priceWhat you get
Standard Edition$79.99£69.99The game, plus the pre-order bonuses
Ultimate Edition$99.99£89.99The game, the Ultimate Edition Upgrade and the pre-order bonuses
Ultimate Edition Upgrade$20.00£20.00Upgrades a Standard Edition to Ultimate

US prices are from the Microsoft Store. UK prices are the same on the PlayStation Store and the Microsoft Store. The Standard Edition is available digitally or as a physical box. The Ultimate Edition is digital only.

Can you pre-order GTA 6?

Yes. GTA 6 pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time, on the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store and "other select retailers". You can pre-order from Rockstar's GTA VI site, which sends you to the right store for your console. On the PlayStation Store, payment is taken immediately when you pre-order.

What are the GTA 6 pre-order bonuses?

  • Vintage Vice City Pack: the "timeless two-tone" '55 Vapid Stanier sedan and a garage alongside Ocean Beach, "decadent" outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a retro weapon pattern. Rockstar says all pre-orders and purchases before November 20 get it, so you'll still get it on launch day.
  • A free month of GTA+ with digital pre-orders. GTA+ is Rockstar's subscription for GTA Online: a GTA$500,000 monthly deposit, Shark Cards with 15% bonus GTA$, free and discounted GTA Online vehicles, and the GTA+ Games Library of classic Rockstar titles. On PlayStation it must be redeemed by March 31, 2027; on Xbox, within 180 days of pre-ordering. After the free month, it renews at the normal monthly price unless you cancel.

What's in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?

Rockstar describes the Ultimate Edition as "an exclusive collection of items threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story", with new items unlocked chapter by chapter. Here's everything it includes, using Rockstar's own descriptions:

  • '95 Grotti Cheetah: Grotti's mid-'90s sports car with a minimalist, retro-futuristic livery, "available to punctuate later-stage action".
  • Hawk & Little Morgan Revolvers: his-and-hers revolvers sourced from the Vercetti Estate, with palm-tree-etched grips, engraving and a high-performance scope.
  • Personalized Weapon Variants: engraved versions of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols.
  • Vice City Style: exclusive outfits, tattoos and more for both characters.
  • Jason's Safehouse Vehicles: an Army fatigue-tinged Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest Kayak.
  • Ganado Retro Build: exclusive mods for Jason's Vapid Ganado low-riding pickup.
  • Rideout Customs Mod Shop: custom interiors, rims and "donk" stylings.
  • Sara's Unisex Salon: signature styles, including facial hair for Jason and make-up and nails for Lucia.
  • Shitzu Squalo: a pink-and-blue boat docked at Washington Beach for fishing in Gambit Bay, with an explosives-laden weapons crate.
  • Stock 305 Clothing Store: Stockyard's premier streetwear shop.
  • '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy: an off-road "Mud Club monster" for Mount Kalaga, stored at the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, which has a weapon locker and a place to stash stolen goods for fencing.
  • Electric Fang Tattoo Parlor: more than 50 tattoos designed by the artist collective FAILE.
  • One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop: off-road modifications and hand-painted artwork, in Lake Leonida.
  • Goodtime Gear: apparel inspired by Macca the Gator, the star of Leonida's hit TV show.
  • PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store: raid the compound of a Southside Vice City gang for special items and contraband.
  • Classic Car Collection: a commission from collector and fixer Wyman to track down and restore abandoned classic and project cars.

Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang and One-Eyed Willie's are, in Rockstar's words, "only open for business with the Ultimate Edition".

Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth it?

It depends how much you value cosmetics and early extras. The Ultimate Edition costs $20 / £20 more than the Standard Edition and adds the items above: two exclusive cars, a buggy, a boat, a motorbike and kayak, personalised weapons, four extra shops and a car-restoration side commission. Both editions get the same game and the same pre-order bonuses. If you buy the Standard Edition, you can upgrade later with the $20 / £20 Ultimate Edition Upgrade.

When can you pre-load GTA 6?

Players who pre-order a digital copy can start pre-loading on November 12, 2026, a week before launch, so the game is ready to play the moment it unlocks on November 19. The PlayStation Store lists a "7-Day Pre-load". Rockstar also says the physical version contains a download code rather than a disc, and goes on sale from November 12 so boxed buyers can pre-load too.

Rockstar hasn't published the download size yet. Figures circulating online are unconfirmed, so it's worth clearing plenty of space before November 12 to be ready for the GTA 6 release date. We'll add the official size here when it appears on the stores.

Is GTA 6 on PC?

No PC version has been announced. The GTA 6 release date of November 19 applies only to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the only platforms Rockstar has confirmed. Historically, Rockstar's biggest games have reached PC later: GTA V arrived on PC in April 2015, about 19 months after its 2013 console launch, and Red Dead Redemption 2 reached PC in November 2019, a year after consoles. Rockstar hasn't said whether GTA 6 will follow that pattern, so treat any PC date you see as speculation until it's officially announced.

Is GTA 6 on PS5 Pro, PS4 or Xbox One?

GTA 6 is PS5 Pro Enhanced on the PlayStation Store, and Rockstar's site says it "plays best on PlayStation 5". On Xbox it's listed as Optimized for Xbox Series X|S. There are no PS4 or Xbox One versions.

Is GTA 6 on Game Pass?

No. GTA 6 is a full-price purchase on Xbox, and nothing from Rockstar or the Microsoft Store says it's coming to Game Pass.

Does GTA 6 have GTA Online?

Rockstar describes Grand Theft Auto VI as "a single player experience", and hasn't announced a new GTA Online for it. The free month of GTA+ in the pre-order bonus applies to the existing GTA Online. We'll update this section if Rockstar announces online plans for GTA 6.

What is the GTA 6 story?

In Rockstar's words: "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."

Rockstar calls it "a return to modern day Vice City", the series' take on Miami, last seen in GTA: Vice City (2002) and Vice City Stories (2006), both set in the 1980s.

Who are the GTA 6 characters?

  • Jason Duval: grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army, he ended up in the Keys working for local drug runners. He wants an easy life, "but things just keep getting harder".
  • Lucia Caminos: her father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Fresh out of prison, she wants the good life her mother has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City.
  • Boobie Ike: a Vice City legend who turned his street days into an empire of real estate, a strip club and a recording studio.
  • Dre'Quan Priest: an aspiring music mogul running Only Raw Records with Boobie.
  • Real Dimez: Bae-Luxe and Roxy, a rap duo with viral hooks, now signed to Only Raw Records.
  • Raul Bautista: a seasoned, charming and reckless bank robber always looking for new talent.
  • Brian Heder: a drug runner from the "golden age of smuggling" in the Keys, who lets Jason live rent-free in one of his properties in return for help with local shakedowns.

What is the GTA 6 map? Vice City and Leonida

GTA 6 is set in Leonida, "the sunshine state", Rockstar's version of Florida, with Vice City at its heart. Rockstar's official site highlights six regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Places named in official descriptions include Ocean Beach, Washington Beach, Stockyard, Southside Vice City, Watson Bay, Gambit Bay and Lake Leonida.

GTA 6 radio stations and music

Rockstar promises "the biggest and widest-ranging selection of in-game radio yet", plus a series first: on-demand podcasts. You can listen in vehicles and also on foot, through headphones and earbuds connected to Jason and Lucia's phones. The first six stations announced are:

  • Cocoteo FM: modern Latin music, from bachata and merengue to dembow and reggaeton.
  • Back Country Radio: renegade country music.
  • AfroBank FM: African music, from 20th-century classics to amapiano and 3-step.
  • The Chamber 106.6: metal.
  • Flash FM: the Vice City pop institution returns.
  • Dirty South Classics: regional rap and hip-hop classics.

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, made with Atlantic Records, also launches on November 19, with 34 original tracks. The first six singles are by Yung Lean (featuring Future and Metro Boomin), Travis Scott, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso with PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro and Keith Richards. Vinyl and CD editions are available to pre-order.

Is there a GTA 6 Collector's Edition?

There's no collector's edition of the game itself, but Rockstar is selling a limited Collector's Box, The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, which arrives on the GTA 6 release date, November 19, and is available "while supplies last". The game is sold separately. It contains:

  • a 6" Macca the Gator figure with a stash compartment;
  • matte black GTA VI Oakley Frogskins sunglasses with Prizm Sapphire lenses;
  • a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback with Vice City Leonida details;
  • a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror, a Vice City swizzle spoon and a razor blade keychain;
  • a Leonida Keys crossbody bag and a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass;
  • a Leonida Keys enamel pin set in a metal tin, premium stickers and a double-sided poster of the full Leonida landscape.

It's on pre-order at the Rockstar Store, which also stocks a wider GTA VI apparel and collectibles range.
