How did we rank the best survival games of 2026?
Most survival games launch on PC first and many are in Early Access, so critics often don't score them. Players do, so we ranked them by Steam reviews:
- Released or fully launched (1.0) in 2026, tagged Survival on Steam, and an open-world, crafting or base-building survival game.
- At least 1,000 Steam user reviews, ranked by the percentage of positive reviews, checked on 26 October 2026. Ties are broken by the number of reviews.
- Where Metacritic has a critics' score, we show the Metascore too.
- Early Access games are included and clearly marked, because in survival that's often where the best games are.
