Is Enshrouded 1.0 out now?
Yes. Enshrouded 1.0 released on 15 October 2026 on Steam and PS5, with the PS5 version listed for 5pm UTC (6pm BST) on the PlayStation Store. Keen published the full changelog a day early and a highlights video on launch day. On the day it launched, Enshrouded had more than 64,000 players on Steam at once.
Is Enshrouded 1.0 on PS5?
Yes. The official Enshrouded site now links to the PlayStation Store alongside Steam, and the store page lists the game as PS5 Pro Enhanced, with DualSense haptics and trigger effects. It's rated PEGI 12 and ESRB Teen. Keen hasn't announced an Xbox release date.
Do I need to buy Enshrouded again for 1.0?
No. If you own Enshrouded on PC from Early Access, 1.0 is a free update. Your Early Access saves still work: they're converted to a new, more efficient save format. Keen does strongly encourage starting a new world, though, because it has reworked the early game and the first few hours a lot.
Early Access owners also get three exclusive decorative props for their base (a statue over 4 metres tall, a tome with the old Early Access "E" logo and a signal light), redeemable from Redeem Add-Ons in the escape menu. For new players, the Steam price is £34.99 / $39.99, with 10% off at launch.
What's new in Enshrouded 1.0?
Keen's full 1.0 changelog runs to tens of thousands of words. These are the headlines:
- The full map is open. North of Veilwater Basin lies Cinder's Cradle, a new region of lava wastes below and floating islands above, with a new faction, new guardians and 12 new Shroud Roots. The Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes also gain new areas at the edge of the world, with 6 more Shroud Roots.
- The story ends. The main quest finally reveals the truth about the Ancients and the Shroud, and leads to a final boss in the sky. Quests are now split into main and side quests.
- Two new Hollow Halls open in the Albaneve Summits and Veilwater Basin.
- New power levels: player level 50, gear level 55, a new Flame level raising the Flame Altar limit to 15, and a new survivor who specialises in Ancient knowledge. A new tier of lockpicks (Archaic) is needed for the highest-tier locks.
- 37 new enemy types and variants, including 14 for the new faction, plus smarter enemies overall.
- A big mage update: 9 new types of spells, summonable skeletons, Necromancy gems, Eternal spells for every school (now upgradeable) and better wand handling. Our Enshrouded 1.0 mage guide covers every change.
- Voice acting: all lore notes, letters and books, plus the main survivors, are now voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese, and you can queue lore notes like an audiobook while you explore.
- Sparkworks: a logic system for building puzzles, traps, dungeons and enemy encounters in your world, to share through Adventure Sharing.
- Better visuals and performance: a new "brick renderer" keeps distant terrain and bases detailed, each biome has its own lighting and atmosphere, global illumination is improved, and HDR is supported, with lower memory use overall.
- Quality-of-life changes players asked for: a free-flying build mode skill, a nerfed Albaneve Summits boss, larger loot pickup radius, upgradeable storage chests (without emptying them), nameable map markers and chests, a choice of classic or more realistic character proportions, configurable updraft timing, better fishing and much shorter shader compilation.
- Better early game: more chests in the Springlands and Revelwood, clearer roads, less grindy early recipes, a higher legendary drop chance and gold coins as a new currency for vanity items. Most former no-build zones are now open for bases.

What to do first in Enshrouded 1.0
Whether you're returning or brand new, these are the things worth doing in your first session, based on Keen's own notes:
1. Decide: new world or old save?
Old saves work, but Keen recommends starting fresh to see the reworked early game, the extra chests and the new pacing. If you keep your old world, the new areas and the north are waiting for you.
2. Spend your skill points before you leave base
When you first load an existing save in 1.0, your skill tree is reset and your points are refunded. Keen's own warning: make sure to spend them again before heading out. It's a good moment to plan a fresh build with the new skills.
3. Rethink your build around the new skills
Mages get the biggest shake-up, with summons, new crowd-control and area spells, Necromancy and a piercing wand heavy attack. Archers get Puncture (more piercing damage), Barrage (a chance to restore bow durability) and Survival Instinct (more Shroud time for bow and dagger kills).
4. Upgrade your gear with runes
Armour, shields, wards, rings, pickaxes and axes are upgradeable with runes, and Eternal spells and arrows can now be upgraded too. The Blacksmith handles warrior gear, the Huntress ranger gear and the Alchemist mage gear.
5. Unlock the next Flame level before Cinder's Cradle
Keen says the next Flame Level is waiting to be unlocked before you enter the new region. Bring your best gear, upgraded, plus the best food you can cook: the new guardians are tough.
6. Hunt down the new Shroud Roots
The 18 new Shroud Roots (12 in Cinder's Cradle, 6 in the new edge areas) mean extra skill points. The new edge areas are less packed with points of interest, but they're worth exploring for the roots alone.
7. Use heavy attacks and thin out camps quietly
All melee weapons have a heavy attack (hold the attack button) that does double damage to enemies and their stun bar. Enemies get suspicious at noise and only call for help once they see you, so picking off camps one by one is far easier than charging in.
8. Try the new building tools
Learn the free-flying build skill for hard-to-reach spots, upgrade your storage chests in place, name your chests and map markers, and try Sparkworks for doors, traps and puzzles. Most old no-build zones are now open, so that dream outpost might finally be possible.
9. Check your settings
Turn on HDR if your screen supports it, re-test your graphics settings with the new renderer, set your loot pickup preference, and controller players should check the aim assist options. Updraft charge time can now be changed in your world settings.
10. Update your dedicated server (PC)
If your group plays on a PC dedicated server, make sure the server is updated to 1.0 as well, or nobody will be able to join.

Is Enshrouded 1.0 cross-platform?
No, not at launch. Keen's launch FAQ says it is working on cross-platform play between PC and PS5, but has no estimate yet for when it will arrive. For now, PC players play with PC players and PS5 players with PS5 players.

How big is Enshrouded?
Very. Keen said in January 2026 that Enshrouded had passed 5 million players. On launch day it is rated Very Positive on Steam, with 86% of more than 107,000 reviews positive, and more than 64,000 people were playing at once on Steam. It supports co-op for up to 16 players.
