SCUM Halloween Update Lands 28 October With a Partial Wipe and Official Server Merges
The SCUM Halloween update arrives 28 October with a partial wipe and server merges. Times, what you keep and how to save your character.

The SCUM Halloween update arrives on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, and it's a big one for anyone on official servers. Gamepires is running a partial wipe across every official server and merging dozens of quieter servers into busier ones, so some players need to act before maintenance starts to keep the character they want.
The update also adds Halloween base decorations, a Corpse Soup recipe and a round of fixes. Here's exactly when it happens, what you keep, and how to protect your character.

When is the SCUM Halloween update?
The update goes live on Wednesday 28 October, in two stages. Note that UK and European clocks go back on 25 October, so the UK is on GMT by then:
| Location | Merged/moving servers go down | Partial wipe and update |
| Los Angeles | 2am | 8am |
| New York | 5am | 11am |
| São Paulo | 6am | 12pm |
| London | 9am | 3pm |

| Moscow | 12pm | 6pm |
| Bangkok / Hanoi | 4pm | 10pm |
| Beijing / Hong Kong | 5pm | 11pm |
If your server is merging or moving to a new machine, treat the first time as the earliest it may go offline. Every other official server stays playable until the partial wipe begins six hours later. Gamepires will post maintenance updates on its Discord announcements channel, in the comments on its Steam post, and on Facebook and X.
What does the SCUM partial wipe reset?
On all official servers, the partial wipe resets:
- Bases
- Gear and supplies
- Fame Points
- Quest progression
Your retained character keeps their attributes, skills and gold. That means you can sell your gear and supplies before the wipe and carry the money over as gold. After the update, your character returns where they last logged out, on the ground and in starting gear, so log out somewhere safe.
Gamepires says the wipe was needed to merge servers, because it lets them move characters without also moving bases and loot. It had previously planned the wipe for the next big update, and apologized for the short notice. The good news: there will be no more official-server wipes in 2026.

Which SCUM servers are merging?
Gamepires is combining quieter official servers so each one feels busier. Here are the merges by region (the official post also lists the new IP addresses):

Some other servers are moving machines, so they stay separate but get a new IP address and port. Gamepires will add the new addresses to its post once its host confirms them.
Which SCUM servers are closing?
- Monthly Wipe #1 – Europe and Monthly Wipe #1 – US East are closing without character migration. Characters, gold and progress on those two servers will not carry over.
- All official Hardcore servers, including Third Person versions, are being retired because player numbers stayed low. Their characters move to the listed destinations and follow that server's rules. Gamepires has published the Hardcore settings so community server owners can recreate them.
- Old public test servers (PTE) are closing too, with no transfer to live servers.
How do I keep my preferred character in SCUM?
Only one character can survive on each destination server. If you do nothing, the game keeps the character with the most playtime, and you can't see playtime in game. If you have characters on several servers that are merging together, do this before your server's maintenance starts:
- Find your destination server in the list and check every server merging into it, including the destination itself.
- Decide which character you want to keep, and leave that character alone.
- On every other server in that group where you have a character you don't want, create a new character. This overwrites the old one and resets its playtime, so your preferred character ends up with the most.
- Sell gear and supplies on the character you're keeping, if you want the gold.
- Log out somewhere safe, ideally a safe zone, on the character you're keeping.
Be careful: creating a new character permanently overwrites the old one on that server, so double-check you're on the right server first. Characters that aren't kept are lost, including their gold, and nothing is combined. If you have a migration problem afterwards, contact SCUM Support with your Steam ID, your original server, your destination server and a description, although Gamepires says a missing character can't always be restored.
What's new in the SCUM Halloween update?
- Halloween decorations: a coffin bed, a hanging jack-o'-lantern and candleholders.
- A buildable cooking cauldron and a recipe for Corpse Soup. Whether you should eat it is another matter.
- Everything can be earned through gameplay. There's no paid DLC, and Gamepires will explain how to get the items in the full update post on 28 October.
- Fixes in the works for grass poking through base floors, ripe plants that won't harvest, and animal collisions that send you and your wheelbarrow flying.
- The Awareness and Archery "Into The Wild" XP boosts end with this update. You keep the progress you earned on your retained character.

What's coming after the Halloween update?
The next big SCUM update brings the Tattoo System, controller support and Photo Mode. Photo Mode will be free for everyone, and Supporter Pack 2 owners will get a selection of tattoos instead. Gamepires is also working on the next season and preparing "Survivalist", a separate official ruleset focused on scarcity and self-sufficient survival, which will be tested on new public test servers. No dates yet.
How much is SCUM, and how many people play it?
SCUM costs £39.99 / $44.99 / €44.99 on Steam (PC only) and left Early Access with version 1.0 in June 2025. About 11,600 people were playing on Steam when we checked on 23 October. If you'd rather avoid the wipe and the crowds, Gamepires points out that you can join a quieter community server or host your own.
