The Blight: Survival release date hasn't been announced. Haenir Studio's medieval co-op horror game, published by Behaviour Interactive, is listed as "To be announced" on Steam. In its October 2026 dev update, the team said it's "approaching a point" where it can open playtests to more players, with more news teased for Halloween.
Here's everything Haenir and Behaviour have officially shared: the release date situation, playtests, co-op, how a mission works, combat, the world and PC requirements.

When is the Blight: Survival release date?
There's no release date or window yet. Steam lists Blight: Survival as "To be announced", and the developers haven't given a year. In October 2026, with no Blight: Survival release date set, they said they're "taking the time we need to get things right", and that wider playtests have taken longer than first planned because they want to "dial things in" before more players get their hands on it.
The game passed 1.5 million wishlists on Steam in March 2026, after its update at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase. We'll add the Blight: Survival release date to this page and our Release Radar as soon as it's announced.
Is there a Blight: Survival playtest?
Yes, but it's small for now. Haenir has been running limited closed playtests with its "Playtest Squad", and says the feedback on recent combat changes has been "very encouraging". It plans to open playtests to more players and will announce them first in its Discord. You can also sign up for Behaviour's playtests at bhvr.com/playtest.
What is Blight: Survival?
Blight: Survival is set in an alternate 14th century, in the no man's land between two kingdoms locked in an endless war. A new strain of the Blight has erupted from the remains of the fallen, fed by the blood spilled in battle, and it turns people into monsters. With both kingdoms paralysed, they've turned to you and your kin, the Writhens, to reach and destroy the source of the Blight.
How does a Blight: Survival mission work?
The developers describe it as a mission-based PvE action-horror co-op game. Here's how a run works:
- Start in your stronghold (the hub) and gear up.
- Head into a handcrafted area of the infected lands.
- Explore, scavenge, take on side objectives and push towards your main goal, managing resources and dealing with unpredictable encounters.
- Decide whether to leave early and secure your loot or risk pushing further for better rewards.
It mixes rogue-lite and extraction ideas with visceral melee combat, against both humans and monsters.
Is Blight: Survival co-op?
Yes. You can play solo or with up to 3 friends, and Steam lists online co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. The developers say it's fully playable solo, while co-op opens up tactics through loadout synergy and teamwork.

How does combat work in Blight: Survival?
Combat uses a directional melee system designed to be accessible to newcomers but with a high skill ceiling. The team's goal is "brutal, weighty melee combat that rewards timing, positioning" and teamwork rather than button mashing. Weapons revealed so far include:
- One-handed swords: faster and more reactive in close quarters.
- Daggers: trading reach for speed and precision.
- The Zweihänder: the first two-handed weapon shown.
- Ranged weapons are also planned.
Weapons are inspired by real historical designs, with varied attributes and rarity levels. The October 2026 update also showed finishers, infected enemies flung by trebuchet that explode for area damage, a "rattler" that bursts through walls, and bridges that can collapse under too many players or enemies.
What is the world of Blight: Survival like?
Areas revealed so far include the Marshlands with its landmark Wailing Tree, seaside environments, dungeons, the Western Hinterlands, and a farm point of interest that's now in-engine. The team is also building castles, caves, corridors and settlements to contrast with the open fields, plus new fog technology to make the world feel more unsettling. One enemy, the Nightstalker, is meant to be approached with caution.
Who is making Blight: Survival?
Blight: Survival began as a passion project by Mads and Ulrik at Haenir Studio, whose reveal caught a lot of attention. Behaviour Interactive, the studio behind Dead by Daylight, is now publishing and developing it with Haenir, and the team has grown to "several dozen devs". 2025 was spent laying the foundations for a much larger project, and 2026 has focused on combat, the world and the mission structure.
What are the Blight: Survival PC system requirements?
The Steam page currently lists only minimum requirements, which are likely placeholders from early development:
| OS | Windows 7 SP1 / 8.1 / 10 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-3470 / AMD FX 4350 |
| Memory | 4GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 670 / AMD Radeon HD 7870 |
| DirectX | 11 |
| Storage | 20GB |
Expect these to change before launch. Full controller support, including DualSense, is listed.
Is Blight: Survival coming to PS5 or Xbox?
Only PC (Steam) is listed on the official site and store so far. Steam does list cross-platform multiplayer, but no console versions have been officially announced.
