AMD FSR 4.1 Now Works on RX 6000 Cards, and It’s Coming to Xbox Series X|S
AMD FSR 4.1 now works on Radeon RX 6000 GPUs with driver 26.10.1, plus Ryzen AI and Z2 handhelds, and it's coming to Xbox Series X|S. What changes.
Image: AMDAMD FSR 4.1, the company's machine-learning upscaler, now works on Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics cards. AMD announced on October 20, 2026 that the update arrives in the Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 driver, and that FSR 4.1 is also coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles.
It's a big deal for owners of five-year-old RX 6000 cards, who were stuck on the older FSR 3.1 until now.
AMD FSR 4.1 at a glance

| Driver | AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 |
| New support | Radeon RX 6000 Series; Ryzen AI Max; Ryzen AI 9; Ryzen Z2 / Z2 Extreme handhelds |
| Coming soon | Xbox Series X|S (no date yet) |
| Already supported | Radeon RX 9000 (FSR 4, 2025) and RX 7000 (FSR 4.1, July 2026) |
| Also new | FSR 4 Vulkan support; smoother frame pacing for FSR Frame Generation |
Does FSR 4.1 work on the RX 6000 series?
Yes, from driver 26.10.1. AMD says it optimized the INT8 version of the FSR 4.1 model, first built for RX 7000 cards, so it runs on RDNA 2 GPUs like the RX 6000 range, which don't have the FP8 hardware of the RX 9000 series. AMD calls it "a significant leap in image quality" over FSR 3.1 for RX 6000 owners, "without having to upgrade hardware".
AMD hasn't published frame-rate figures for RX 6000 cards. Its own footnote adds that "feature availability and release timing may vary by device".
Is FSR 4.1 coming to Xbox Series X|S?
Yes, but not yet. AMD says Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet confirmed in its announcement video that FSR Upscaling 4.1 is coming to Xbox Series X|S "soon". There's no date, and games will need to support it, so don't expect every Xbox game to look sharper overnight.
Xbox Series X|S consoles use AMD RDNA 2 graphics, the same generation as the RX 6000 cards, which is why the new INT8 version makes console support possible.
Which handhelds and laptops get FSR 4.1?
- Ryzen AI Max: FSR 4.1's first appearance on AMD's big laptop chips, including Ryzen AI Halo PCs, the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and ASUS TUF A14.
- Ryzen AI 9 and Ryzen Z2 handhelds: a new, more efficient version built for these chips, including the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and Ryzen Z2 A. The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X is one of the handhelds named by AMD.
How do I get FSR 4.1?
- Download AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 or newer from amd.com.
- Play a game that supports FSR upscaling. AMD says FSR 4.1 works across "hundreds of games" on Ryzen AI Max systems.
- Pick FSR upscaling in the game's graphics settings.
What is FSR?
FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) renders a game at a lower resolution and upscales it, so you get higher frame rates with less loss in sharpness. FSR 4 switched from a hand-tuned algorithm to machine learning, similar to NVIDIA's DLSS, which is why it originally needed RX 9000 hardware.
