How much is the ROG Xbox Ally X20?
The standalone handheld starts at $1,299, which is $300 more than the ROG Xbox Ally X cost at launch. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 Bundle starts at $2,499 (listed at $2,499.99 on the ASUS Store) and adds:
- ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR Glasses
- a dbrand Killswitch case for the X20
- a 68W power adapter
- a custom Pelican Protector Case
The AR glasses project a 171-inch virtual screen at four metres, with a 240Hz micro-OLED display and 3DoF head tracking, and connect with a single USB-C cable.
What's new in the ROG Xbox Ally X20?
- Bigger OLED screen: ASUS's "Nebula HDR" 7.4-inch OLED is the first OLED on an Ally. It runs at 120Hz with FreeSync Premium Pro, a 0.2ms response time and 1,400 nits peak brightness, and has anti-reflective Corning glass that ASUS says cuts glare by 65%.
- TMR joysticks: ASUS says these are designed to eliminate stick drift.
- Transforming D-pad: switch between four-way and eight-way.
- Redesigned controls: flush face buttons and rubberised rear grips.
- Anniversary design: a translucent black shell with a gold internal frame, plus improved cooling to keep the screen cooler.
- Software: Xbox mode, and Auto SR upscaling as a preview.
Inside, it's the same as the ROG Xbox Ally X: an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. So expect similar gaming performance, with the upgrade mostly in the screen and controls.

Should you wait for the ROG Xbox Ally X20?
If you already own a ROG Xbox Ally X, the X20 won't play games any faster, so the OLED screen and new sticks are the main reasons to upgrade. If you're buying your first high-end handheld, the X20 is worth considering for the screen alone. If you want the most raw performance, the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ is the fastest handheld reviewers have tested, but it costs $1,799.
