When is the Xbox Series X25 release date?
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition releases on 13 November 2026. Microsoft first showed the console at the Xbox Games Showcase on 7 June 2026, saying only that it would arrive in November. The exact date and pricing followed during Microsoft's Gamescom 2026 broadcast in August, and Microsoft's own store listing now shows 13 November 2026 in the UK.
The timing isn't an accident. The original Xbox launched in North America in November 2001, so the X25 lands almost exactly 25 years later.
How much does the Xbox Series X25 cost?
The X25 collection costs £759.99 in the UK and $899.99 in the US. Microsoft says pricing varies by market, so check your local Microsoft Store for euro and other prices. That's a big premium over a standard Series X, and you're mostly paying for the limited-run design and the bundled controller rather than extra power.
According to Microsoft's Gamescom pricing announcement, as reported by Pure Xbox, the collection also includes a copy of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Check the retailer's listing before you buy, as bundle contents can differ by store.

What's different about the Xbox Series X25?
On the inside, nothing major. Microsoft's Xbox Wire announcement says the X25 has the same power and performance as the Xbox Series X, with 1TB of storage. The changes are all about the look:
- A translucent OG Green shell – the first translucent design for a Series X, inspired by the original 2001 Xbox.
- The X lights up green at start-up, a nod to the original console's boot screen.
- An Xbox 25th Anniversary logo on the front.
So if you already own a Series X, the X25 won't run your games any better. It's a collector's piece first and a console second.
Is the X25 controller sold separately?
Yes. The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition comes in the box with the console, but you can also buy it on its own from 20 October 2026 for £74.99 / €79.99 / $79.99. It has the same translucent OG Green finish, the original Xbox's coloured ABXY buttons, bumpers that reference the black and white buttons on the original "Duke" controller, and a fully transparent back and battery door that shows off the classic Xbox logo.

Can you still pre-order the Xbox Series X25?
Pre-orders opened on 27 August 2026 at 7am PT through the Xbox website and participating retailers, with some Xbox customers getting early access by email the day before. Microsoft limited pre-orders to one collection per customer, while supplies last.
Stock has been tight. There were reports of the console showing as out of stock on Microsoft's US store within days, and of the controller selling out at some UK retailers. Availability changes quickly, so check the Microsoft Store and major retailers directly – and be wary of inflated resale listings before launch day.
Should you buy the Xbox Series X25?
If you're an Xbox collector or you've been waiting for a reason to upgrade from an older console, the X25 is the best-looking Series X Microsoft has made, and the bundled controller softens the price a little. If you just want to play games, a standard Series X does exactly the same job for much less. It's also worth knowing that Microsoft has already started talking publicly about its next generation of Xbox hardware, so the X25 is best seen as a send-off for this generation rather than a new start.
