How to Make Soup in Abiotic Factor: Recipes, Buffs and Cooking Level 3
How to make soup in Abiotic Factor: reach Cooking 3, fill a pot with clean water, add the right ingredients, and the easy early recipes and buffs to start with.
To make soup in Abiotic Factor, reach Cooking level 3, fill a Cooking Pot with clean water, put it on a powered stove and add the ingredients of a known recipe. Each pot makes four portions (six from Cooking 17), and every Soup Bowl holds two portions, so one pot feeds you for a long time. Soups also restore thirst, never burn and never spoil. Here's how to start, plus the easiest recipes for the early game.

How do you get Cooking level 3?
Fry food in a pan to raise your Cooking skill. Some jobs start with a bonus: Epimedical Bionomicist (+1), Phytogenetic Botanist (+2) and Somatic Gastrologist (+4). The Hobbyist Chef trait doubles Cooking XP. There's also a shortcut: inspecting the pot of solder in front of The Blacksmith at the F.O.R.G.E. in the Manufacturing Sector raises Cooking to level 3 if it's lower.
How do you make soup step by step?
- Find a Cooking Pot or craft a Cooking Pot (Makeshift).
- Fill it with clean Water from water coolers, sinks or a Water Bottle. You can also use Antejuice, which doesn't need purifying.
- Place the pot on a stove powered by electricity.
- Add the ingredients. If they match a recipe, the soup's name changes and the recipe is saved to your Compendium.
- When the lid appears, take the pot off the stove and place it down.
- Equip a Soup Bowl to scoop a portion, then eat from the bowl.

Why is soup so good in Abiotic Factor?
Soups stretch ingredients a long way. A Military M.R.E. restores 30 hunger if you eat it as it is. Cook it into Sustenance Soup instead and you get 18 hunger and 16 thirst per serving, across 8 servings (12 at Cooking 17): up to 216 hunger and 192 thirst from one M.R.E.
What happens if you get the recipe wrong?
A wrong mix usually becomes Bad Soup, and harmful ingredients such as rotten food or plastic scrap make Toxic Soup. The good news: if you're only one ingredient off, the correct recipe is still added to your Compendium when it finishes, as long as you used the right number of ingredients.
