How do you change servers in Once Human?
- Finish the beginner stages. Server choice opens up once you reach the scenario selection screen.
- Leave your current scenario. If it hasn't reached the rest period, go to Scenario › Scenario Description › Scenario Exit. Your first exit is free. If it's already in the rest period, you can skip this step.
- Sign up for a new server. On the scenario selection screen, choose More Servers, then pick the scenario and the exact server you want.
How do you join a friend's server in Once Human?
First, check you're in the same region. It's shown in the top-right corner of the sign-in screen. Then ask your friend for their server name (it's in their character's sign-in information) and pick it under More Servers. If that server is full, your friend can give you a Special Invitation Code from their character namecard to let you in.
Can you play with friends in another region?
No. Starry Studio keeps each region on separate data centres, so players in North America and Asia, for example, can't play together. Choose your region carefully before you settle in.
What are console-exclusive servers?
Once Human launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 25 August 2026, with full crossplay with PC and mobile. Servers whose names start with "Console" are console-only: PC and mobile players can see characters already on them, but can't play there. Pick a normal server if you want to play with PC or mobile friends.
What happened to permanent servers?
In September 2026, Starry Studio began merging all permanent servers of the same scenario in each region into one new permanent server, so players stop getting scattered. Characters keep their level, supplies and tech level, and hive relationships move too, but scenario task progress resets to the new server's challenges. Territories are kept in place where possible. If yours had to be packed away, you'll get compensation by mail and can relocate it. The first merges started on 16 September, with others rolled out in later updates. Once you're merged, you can't go back to your old server.
What about the new Isles of Abyss scenario?
The ocean scenario Isles of Abyss launches on 21 October 2026. After creating a character and finishing the new player experience, you can sign up for it from the scenario selection screen, and players already in other scenarios can sign up through the same screen. See our Isles of Abyss guide for the details.
