The DayZ Halloween event for 2026 is live. Bohemia Interactive's annual spooky event started on 26 October and runs until 6 November on three maps: Chernarus, Livonia and Sakhal. Expect a castle shrouded in fog, mummy, jack-o'-lantern and witch infected, decaying player characters and a pile of seasonal cosmetics.

There's one notable exception: Nasdara, the new map from the DayZ Badlands expansion, isn't getting the event. As Bohemia puts it, "the heat alone is scary enough".

When does the DayZ Halloween event start and end?

It started on 26 October 2026 and ends on 6 November 2026, according to Bohemia's announcement on Steam. That's around 12 days of Halloween spawns, so if you want the cosmetics, don't leave it until the last weekend.

What's in the DayZ Halloween event?

Bohemia lists these additions for the event:

  • The Castle, haunted by spooky fog.
  • Mummy Infected, Jack O' Infected and Witch Infected.
  • Decaying player characters.
  • Cosmetic items such as the leaf crown, witch hat, witch hood and pumpkin helmet, "and more".

What spawns on each DayZ map during Halloween?

Bohemia says event assets spawn differently depending on the map, and its official infographic breaks it down:

Event featureChernarusLivoniaSakhal
Fog-bound haunted castleYesYesNo
Mummy infectedYesYesNo
Decaying player charactersYesYesNo
Halloween clothing (witch hood, pumpkin, cauldron items)YesYesYes
Masks and other propsYesYesYes
Jack O' and Witch infectedYesYesYes

So Chernarus and Livonia get the full event, while snowy Sakhal gets the cosmetics and the Jack O' and Witch infected but not the castle, the mummies or the decaying characters. The rows are based on the item pictures in Bohemia's infographic, which doesn't name every item.

Is the DayZ Halloween event on Nasdara?

No. Bohemia confirmed that Nasdara, the desert map added by DayZ Badlands, "will not be getting the Halloween event". If you want spooky loot, you'll need to play on Chernarus, Livonia or Sakhal.

Is DayZ on sale for Halloween?

Yes. Bohemia's Scream V Sale runs until 2 November:

What else is new in DayZ right now?

The event lands just after DayZ Update 1.30, which brought motorbikes, improved infected animations and a reworked inventory interface to every map. Bohemia also says more dev blogs are coming in the weeks ahead, covering Nasdara and game updates in general. New to the desert? Our DayZ Badlands guide has 13 tips to help you survive.
