In Hades 2, players will find numerous elements to aid them in their journey beyond the underworld. Among these, animal companions or familiars play a crucial role. This guide covers all Hades 2 animal companions, their abilities, and how to unlock them.

Unlocking Animal Companions

To unlock animal companions in Hades 2, Melinoë must cast an Incantation at the Cauldron in the Crossroads. The necessary incantation is the Faith of Familiar Spirits, which becomes available midway through the game. Defeating the Headmistress Hecate multiple times will eventually lead to unlocking this incantation.

Requirements for the Incantation

To cast the Faith of Familiar Spirits, you need:

  • 2x Nectar
  • 1x Lotus Flower

You can find Nectar in rooms marked with the Nectar symbol or purchase it for 50 bones from the Wretched Broker. Lotus Flowers are found in Oceanus.

Once cast, the incantation grants you 1 Witch's Delight. Gift this to an animal to make them your Familiar.

Upgrading Your Familiar's Abilities

To reach each rank in your Familiar's abilities, craft more Witch's Delights and gift them to your Familiar. Use the Beast-Loved Morsel Alchemy recipe at a Cauldron to create more Witch's Delights. This recipe becomes available once you cast the Faith of Familiar Spirits incantation.

Finding Ingredients

  • Star Dust: Obtainable by casting the Abyssal Night Incantation, which can be acquired from Chaos, near the Crossroads at the Pitch-Block Stone.

Conclusion

Understanding all Hades 2 animal companions is crucial for mastering the game. Frinos and Toula offer unique benefits, enhancing your abilities and providing essential support in your journey. Unlock them, upgrade their abilities, and strategize your playstyle for the best results.
