FM24 Bad News Continues With No Transfer Window Update
Football Manager fans have been hit with yet another disappointment. Sports Interactive has confirmed there will be no transfer window update for FM24. After delaying Football Manager 2025 until March, fans hoped the latest season’s data could be ported to FM24. However, the developer has now revealed that this request isn’t feasible, further frustrating the game’s dedicated community.
Why No Transfer Update for FM24?
The FM24 no transfer window update has been a hot topic among the Football Manager fanbase. When FM25 was delayed, many players suggested a simple solution: update FM24 with the latest player statistics, transfer moves, and team data from the 2024/25 season. After exploring the idea, Sports Interactive announced it’s not possible.
In a recent statement, Sports Interactive said: “Following the announcement of the delay to FM25, many of you have called for an official FM24 update with season 2024/25 data. This is something we have been exploring since the initial internal conversation about postponing the game’s release.”
Technical Challenges Prevent FM24 Data Update
The primary reason for the FM24 no transfer window update is the complexity of porting data from FM25 into the current version. The developer explained that recreating all of the required assets, including player stats and team data, would be a significant challenge. They also need approval from licensors to use the updated assets, and these would have to be remade to work with the FM24 framework.
“Despite a good initial response from many of our licensors, we cannot lift assets from FM25 and make them work in FM24 without recreating them in full. The same applies to competition rules, translations, and database changes,” the statement continued.
A Major Undertaking for Sports Interactive
Porting the FM25 data into FM24 would be a “substantial undertaking,” according to Sports Interactive. The process would demand considerable time and resources, potentially delaying the release of FM25 even further. The developer remains committed to delivering FM25 with the “highest possible quality,” and updating FM24 could detract from those efforts.
The lack of an FM24 no transfer window update leaves players stuck with outdated data while waiting for the next iteration of the series. For those who pre-ordered FM25 and are dissatisfied with the delay, Sports Interactive has advised contacting their retailers for a refund.
Looking Forward to FM25
As fans continue to wait for FM25, many are left with mixed feelings. While the delay is understandable given the scale of Football Manager, the absence of a transfer window update for FM24 adds another layer of disappointment. Nevertheless, Sports Interactive has made it clear that its focus is on delivering a polished and high-quality experience with FM25.
