Phantom Blade Zero sales passed 4 million copies in just 72 hours, developer and publisher S-GAME announced on 2 November. The dark wuxia action RPG launched on PS5 and PC on 29 October, and S-GAME's official post on X says it "has sold over 4 million copies in just 72 hours", counted across all platforms. On Steam it has climbed past 830,000 players at once, putting a single-player action game from a Chinese studio up with the biggest launches of the year.

How many copies has Phantom Blade Zero sold?

More than 4 million in its first three days. S-GAME posted the milestone at 02:02 UTC on 2 November, almost exactly 72 hours after the game unlocked worldwide at 02:00 UTC on 29 October. The figure covers every platform: PS5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. S-GAME thanked players "from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support".

S-GAME hasn't said how the 4 million splits between PS5 and PC, or how many came from pre-orders, which opened on 11 August. If and when it shares more, we'll add it here.

How many people are playing Phantom Blade Zero on Steam?

A lot. Steam's own player count showed about 769,000 people playing at once when we checked at 12:20 UTC on Tuesday 3 November, a weekday lunchtime in Europe. Our launch article recorded over 610,000 at midday UK time on launch day. The all-time peak so far is 833,921 concurrent players on Sunday 1 November, according to SteamDB, a third-party tracker of Steam's data.

That puts Phantom Blade Zero among the most played games on Steam this week. For a single-player game with no multiplayer mode, those are exceptional numbers. You can see where it sits right now on our Most Played on Steam chart.

Is Phantom Blade Zero any good?

Critics and players mostly agree it is. It holds a Metacritic score of 88 on PC and PS5, and S-GAME's sales graphic lists Metacritic user scores of 8.8 on PC and 9.3 on PS5, 89% positive Steam reviews and 4.71 out of 5 on the PlayStation Store. Reviewers have praised its fast, cinematic swordplay, built from thousands of hours of motion capture with guidance from Shaolin monks and action director Yang Liu. Our best games of 2026 so far list tracks where it ranks against this year's other big releases.

How does Phantom Blade Zero compare with Black Myth: Wukong?

It's the obvious comparison: another big-budget action game from a Chinese studio, built on Unreal Engine 5. Black Myth: Wukong is still well ahead. Developer Game Science announced 10 million copies in three days in August 2024, and it peaked above 2.4 million concurrent players on Steam, according to SteamDB. Wukong also launched on PC first, with a huge home audience on Steam.

Still, 4 million in 72 hours is a big result for S-GAME's first big console and PC release. Phantom Blade Zero grew out of Rainblood: Town of Death, an RPG Maker game creative director Soulframe Liang made as a student 20 years ago. Liang told the story in a letter on Steam the day before launch.

How much is Phantom Blade Zero, and where can you buy it?

Phantom Blade Zero costs £49.99 / $59.99 / €59.99 on Steam (Digital Deluxe £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99), and £54.99 / $59.99 on the PlayStation Store. It's also on the Epic Games Store. There's no Xbox version announced. Our Phantom Blade Zero launch guide has every edition, the PC requirements (145GB, SSD required), the day-one patch and S-GAME's NVIDIA driver advice.

Is Phantom Blade Zero coming to Xbox or Switch 2?

Not as far as anyone knows. S-GAME hasn't announced Xbox or Nintendo versions; the game is on PS5 and PC only. Whether a 4-million launch changes that is up to S-GAME, and there's no official word yet.
