When does the Once Human 3.1.2 update go live?

Maintenance starts at 3pm PT on 4 November 2026, which is 23:00 GMT and 00:00 CET on 5 November. Starry Studio expects it to last about two hours, though it says the actual reopening time may change. Every player gets the free rewards listed above after maintenance. The next update is scheduled for 18 November at 3pm PT.

What's changing in first-person mode?

  • New roll animation: rebuilt for first-person view, with far less visual awkwardness.
  • Smooth ladders: you now climb up and down continuously instead of moving a fixed distance.
  • Climb in any direction: low obstacles can be climbed from any angle.
  • Left or right weapon view: press Camera Switch to move your weapon to the left of the screen, handy when firing from left-side cover.

What are the new Territory building tools?

  • Batch Replace: swap or remove material skins across your Territory with one click, and do the same for facilities of the same type.
  • Move whole houses: houses in a Territory can now be moved as one piece, and you can pick a snap point when placing a design layout.
  • Holographic construction: it now shows the materials a selected structure needs and lets you build structures individually. For floating buildings, it works out the best support path for you.
  • Ships in Isles of Abyss: a Straight Ladder you can climb straight from the water, and a Rolling Shutter Door for dividing the ship's interior.

What is the Nailoong crossover in Once Human?

Nailoong is a round, bouncy character visiting Nalcott for a limited-time crossover:

  • Transform: shout "NAILOONG" in the World chat to get a Transformation Cookie, then eat it to turn into Nailoong.
  • Tummy Battle: an exclusive skill you can use in the wilderness while transformed.
  • Nailoong Egg: complete daily and friend-invite tasks to hatch it. At 100% you get the "Carpenter Nailoong" Logging Beaver Deviation Skin.
  • Check-in: daily rewards including the Nailoong Disco Light, a party item you can place in the wilderness.
  • Nailoong Checks: sign-in rewards worth 2,000 Crystgin that can cover up to 20% of a shop order, valid for four weeks.

Transformation items, the Disco Light and the photo frame stop working when the event ends.

What else is in the update?

  • Custom dye: many fashion sets and parts now support custom colours.
  • Custom Servers: players on Custom and Official Servers can add each other as friends and chat, hosts get a new privileges category and gift pack options, and there's a new Heart of the Sunken dungeon for the Isles of Abyss scenario.
  • Server reviews: after 10 minutes on a Custom Server you can post a review on its details page.
  • Cosmetics: more Traits can be equipped at once, and some Set Exclusive effects now work without the matching fashion pieces.
  • Shop: the Party Boing! Lightforge Loot Crate, the Awoo's Adventure Combo Crate and, from 11 November, the Poem of Binding blind box.

Starry Studio also teases the Visional Wheel game mode, with more detail promised in upcoming dev blogs.

Is Once Human free?

Yes, Once Human is free-to-play on Steam, where about 18,000 people were playing when we checked on 4 November. If you're playing the ocean scenario, see our round-up of Isles of Abyss fixes.
