Compound Carbon Activator in The First Descendant: Removed in 2026 and What to Do With Yours

If you're trying to farm Compound Carbon Activator in The First Descendant, there's an important change: Nexon removed it from Research Materials in Update 1.3.28 on 21 May 2026, and you can't get any more. If you still have some, Patch 1.3.30 added a way to turn them into Info Grid Tokens. Here's what changed, what to do with the Activators you already have, and what replaced the old farm.

Compound Carbon Activator at a glance

Can you still get Compound Carbon Activator in The First Descendant?

No. In Update 1.3.28, Nexon removed several rare basic materials from Research. Compound Carbon Activator is on the list of "Excluded Research Materials", which Nexon says can no longer be acquired. Its old farming zone, White-night Gulch, now drops a "Maintained Research Material" instead: Advanced Neural Circuit. The other Carbon Activators changed too: Common Carbon Activator (Vespers) and Complex Carbon Activator (Echo Swamp) were also excluded, while Low-Carbon Activator (Kingston) was kept.

Why was it removed?

The change was part of a wider clean-up of Research. Nexon changed or added the materials that several Researches need and removed some items from the Research List, so you won't find the old research info in your Library any more. That's why older farming guides, including the Mystery's End Elite Warden farm many players used in 2024, no longer apply.

What can you do with Compound Carbon Activator now?

Since Patch 1.3.30 (4 June 2026), you can extract leftover materials that no longer have a use:

1. Reach Mastery Rank 10.
2. Go to Magister Anais in Albion.
3. Open the Info Grid Extract shop and extract your Compound Carbon Activators. Each one gives 1 Info Grid Token.
4. Spend the tokens in the Info Grid Exchange shop on new materials and items.

The Exchange has included items such as Low-Carbon Activator for 10 tokens with no purchase limit, Kuiper Shards and Gold (with a weekly limit). Check the shop in-game for the current list.

Which other materials were excluded?

Besides the Carbon Activators, the excluded materials include Organic Biogel, Insulated Metallic Foil, Artificial Biometal, Fusion Plasma Battery, Negative Ion Particle, Data Processing Neural Circuit, Inorganic Biogel, Encrypted Neural Circuit, Thermal Metallic Foil, Positive Ion Particle, Synthesized Artificial Biometal, Divided Plasma Battery, Crystal Biogel, Cooling Metallic Foil and more. All of them can be extracted for Info Grid Tokens.
