Gallipoli Update 2.1.0 is out. BlackMill Games released it on 20 October 2026, and it adds room codes for joining matches, a controller aim deadzone setting, separate voice chat volume sliders and a long list of weapon, bot and performance fixes. The developer also answered the community's biggest complaint: shots that seem to hit an enemy but don't count, usually called "hit reg".

The short version: this update doesn't fix hit reg yet. BlackMill now thinks it's a desync problem rather than a hit registration bug, and 2.1.0 adds the first tools to track it down.

Does Gallipoli Update 2.1.0 fix hit reg?

No, not yet. BlackMill opened the patch notes with a note about the issue. Sometimes you shoot an enemy in the centre of the chest from point-blank range and the shot doesn't register. The studio says its "current leading theory" is that this is a desync issue rather than a problem with hit registration itself.

According to BlackMill, it has already reviewed all of its bullet ballistics code and found no problem there. It has also rewritten "a significant amount" of networking code to reduce the chances of desync. The problem is hard to reproduce, which makes it hard to pin down, so Update 2.1.0 only adds "some first steps to help identify the case". BlackMill says it hopes to have good news soon, but it hasn't given a date for a fix.

What's new in Gallipoli Update 2.1.0?

Room code join

You can now join a specific match by typing its room code into the new Room code join button in the Play now menu. Room codes show on the scoreboard, so friends can share them easily, and PC players can click a code on the scoreboard to copy it.

Controller deadzone and audio sliders

Controller players get a new aim deadzone setting. There are also separate volume sliders for voice chat and for character voice lines, so you can turn down your soldier's shouting without muting your squad.

Weapon changes

  • New: the Mauser 1893 with 1913 bayonet. The Rifleman Campaign Kit now pairs a Mauser 1903 without bayonet with the Mauser 1893 with bayonet, and the Combat Kit swaps them round. The Ammo Bearer's Assault Ammo Kit now uses the Mauser 1893 with bayonet.
  • P14 Enfield: no longer shoots high when surface resting, has the correct blade front sight, and no longer shows bullets in the magazine when reloading from empty.
  • P14 Enfield and SMLE Mk. III* cartridges now show Mk. VII markings.
  • Winchester M1866: the hammer no longer stays uncocked when reloading from an uncocked state.
  • Flare guns no longer fire continuously while the fire button is held.
  • Scope size on screen now matches the first-person field of view, and tags no longer disappear while scoped.
  • Weapons can now be prestiged with a controller.

Gameplay and balance

  • Weapon sway while surface resting has been slightly adjusted.
  • Partially spotted enemies now lose their tag if the spot isn't completed.
  • Build menu hotkeys can no longer bypass squad beacon placement checks.
  • Call-in cooldown icons now account for the attacker cooldown bonus, and they're bigger and easier to see.
  • Aim assist target acquisition and snapping now trigger correctly, and the Invert Look setting works again.
  • Various map and spawn fixes on Ali Al Muntar.

Smarter bots

Bots now spawn across a wider spread of locations near their objective, avoid fire when possible, and can drop down ledges instead of walking around them. They also no longer leave an objective area when their path briefly takes them outside it. On Ali Al Muntar, defending bots stop exposing themselves in front of the objective, and there are new routes so they can reposition.

Performance and stability

BlackMill optimised the grass ("Go touch it," the notes joke), adjusted draw distances for water effects and juniper trees, fixed memory leaks linked to players and visual effects, and improved performance while looking through a scope. There are also fixes for several crashes and errors, including one that stopped the critical error popup from appearing during startup.

Platform, UI and audio fixes

  • The Offline Play tab now lists all maps, and the game no longer leaves offline mode by itself.
  • A host change can no longer break a match or stop it from starting.
  • Achievement rewards are now tracked by the platform instead of local save data.
  • The match list no longer reorders itself every time a match updates.
  • The after action report shows you first if you earned a gold medal, and account XP now displays correctly.
  • Your character's breathing now sounds pained while bleeding out.
  • New third-person animations for switching to grenades, plus updated walk, sprint, bolt and reload animations.
  • Improved cheat detection.

The full list is in BlackMill's Steam post.

What players are saying about Gallipoli

Gallipoli is rated Mostly Positive on Steam, with 78% of 4,700+ reviews positive. Recent reviews show the same mix of praise and frustration that the patch notes deal with:

  • General_II called it "great to have a new Isonzo", praising the setting, the improved visuals and sound, and suppression that finally feels impactful.
  • メ waterjug said the game "runs nicely" but "has some issues like hitreg".
  • Pixel Hunter advised players to wait, citing hit reg problems and balance that they feel favours attackers heavily.
  • Auxell_ gave it 9/10, but asked for anti-aliasing in native scaling mode.

These are players' opinions, not confirmed facts. BlackMill hasn't announced any balance changes for attackers and defenders.

Is Gallipoli worth buying after Update 2.1.0?

If you liked Verdun or Isonzo, Gallipoli is BlackMill's biggest WW1 shooter yet: 50-player objective battles on the Ottoman fronts, 10 historical classes and authentic weapons. Update 2.1.0 is a solid quality-of-life patch, and the free Long March and Ali Al Muntar content keeps it growing. The one thing to know before buying is that hit reg (or desync) is still being investigated, so some shots may not count until BlackMill fixes it.
