CLICK BAIT is a one-button rhythm roguelite with a simple pitch: "the internet is trying to kill you". You time your clicks on a single spinning wheel to attack, block and earn gold against monsters based on the worst of the web. It's made by solo developer Benjamin Adams, it's due on Steam on 3 December 2026, and there's a free demo on Steam now.

Ben emailed us about the game, so here's our Indie Spotlight. This is a spotlight, not a review: we haven't played it, and everything here comes from the developer and the game's Steam page.

When is the CLICK BAIT release date?

3 December 2026, according to the Steam page and the developer. No launch time or price has been announced yet. The free demo has been on Steam since 28 August, so you can try it now.

How does CLICK BAIT play?

Everything happens on one spinning wheel. Click at the right moment to activate the coloured nodes on it:

  • White: attack the enemy.
  • Red: block the enemy's attack.
  • Gold: earn gold to spend on relics in the shop.
  • Enemy nodes: each enemy adds its own nodes with a unique gimmick.

The Steam page calls it "easy to learn but brutal to master", with a different puzzle to solve in each fight and quick-time events along the way.

What monsters do you fight in CLICK BAIT?

The enemies are the internet's bad habits turned into bosses. The screenshots and developer posts show:

  • Autocorrect: a teacher fighting you in front of a chalkboard.
  • The Influencer: a pink-robed star in a neon bedroom.
  • Spam Bot and The AI Slop, the star of its own trailer.
  • Brainrot: a smiling babysitter in a daycare who covers the wheel in stickers, which you peel away by hitting the white attack windows.
  • The MMORPG: an elite fight that changes the rules. White nodes are replaced by blue ones that fill a mana bar so you can cast spells, using the four starting characters from Ben's other game, Path Defenders.

Why is CLICK BAIT a roguelite?

Every run is a fresh build. You choose your route between fights, shops and "a chance to touch grass", collect from dozens of passive relics, chase PERFECT streaks and take on elite enemy variants for bigger payouts. Beat the game and Ascension mode raises the difficulty level by level: enemies get stronger, the wheel spins faster and, in the Steam page's words, "other crazy things start to happen".

Does CLICK BAIT need an internet connection?

No, despite the theme. The Steam page says it plays offline, with "no Wi-Fi, no account, no energy timers, no real ads". It supports Steam Cloud saves, achievements and leaderboards, and has adjustable difficulty.

What are the CLICK BAIT PC requirements?

They're low: Windows 10 64-bit or Ubuntu 20.04, a dual-core 2.0 GHz processor, 4 GB of RAM, a graphics card with WebGL2 support (Intel HD 4000 or equivalent) and 1 GB of storage.

Who makes CLICK BAIT?

Benjamin Adams, working alone. His Steam posts show how personal the project is: one scene set in 1996 features his own cats and favourite childhood photos. "When you're the only person making a game you're allowed to do stuff like this," he wrote. He posts development videos on his YouTube channel.
