Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 Coming to Game Pass

It's official: Microsoft confirmed today that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available "on day one" on Game Pass. This news is a major development for both the Call of Duty franchise and Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

The Significance of Black Ops 6 on Game Pass

A Major Acquisition

Putting Black Ops 6 on Game Pass at launch is a big deal. Call of Duty is one of the most popular video game series globally. This move highlights the significance of Microsoft's $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard in 2023. It marks a strategic step to boost Game Pass subscriptions.

Boosting Game Pass

Adding Black Ops 6 to Game Pass could be a game-changer for Microsoft's subscription service. Subscription rates have reportedly slumped due to a lack of new games. Including such a high-profile title on launch day is expected to attract many new subscribers and reinvigorate interest in Game Pass.

Potential Risks and Rewards

Cannibalizing Retail Sales

While Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 Coming To Game Pass is expected to boost subscriptions, it also poses risks. There is a possibility of cannibalizing retail sales. This financial hit might challenge Microsoft in the future, potentially forcing them to reconsider their strategy for future Call of Duty releases.

Long-Term Impact

Pulling future Call of Duty releases from Game Pass due to financial losses could negatively impact subscription rates. However, for now, the decision to include Black Ops 6 on Game Pass is seen as a positive move that could lead to a significant increase in subscriptions.
