Is Arma Reforger good?
Yes, if you play it the way it's meant to be played: as a team. Arma Reforger is a military sandbox on big open maps, and its best mode, Conflict, puts dozens of players on each side fighting over a whole island. Running off alone gets you killed. Working with a squad, with a plan, is where it shines.
Why is Arma Reforger such a good team game?
Communication
Communication is everything. With in-game voice and radio, you hear your squad leader call out contacts, a driver ask who needs a lift, and a medic shout for cover. Good servers feel like a real unit, and that teamwork is what makes Arma Reforger so rewarding.

Action
The action is tense and often spectacular: helicopter insertions, convoys rolling across fields, firefights through villages and long-range shootouts on open hills. Because one or two hits can drop you, every push feels risky, and every win feels earned.
Is Arma Reforger still being updated?
Yes. Bohemia released Update 1.9 on 5 November 2026, with a big vehicle simulation overhaul, racing wheel support, clearing bushes with a shovel, magazine repacking and canteens, alongside the paid Rally DLC. See our Arma Reforger 1.9 guide for the full list.

What's not so good?
- It depends on your team: on a quiet server or with players who don't talk, it loses a lot of what makes it great.
- Slow pace at times: long walks and drives between fights won't suit everyone.
- A learning curve: new players have plenty to learn, from the map to the radio.
Should you buy Arma Reforger?
If you love teamwork and realistic military action, yes. It's at its best with friends or an active community, where communication turns every match into a proper operation. If you want quick, solo action, a faster shooter will suit you better. On PS5 and Xbox, see our best console mods guide too.
