Black Ops 6 Anti-Cheat Issues – Why It’s Not Working
Call of Duty Promises Major Ricochet Anti-Cheat Updates for Black Ops 6 Ranked Play
Cheating complaints have been surging in Black Ops 6 recently, particularly in Ranked Play. Now, Call of Duty has officially acknowledged the problem. In a new blog post, Activision admits that Ricochet, its anti-cheat system, “did not hit the mark” during Black Ops 6 Season 1. However, the company is promising significant updates to combat the issue in future seasons.
Ricochet’s Ongoing Battle Against Cheaters
Activision has been refining its in-house Ricochet anti-cheat system for years now, using a combination of kernel-level software, AI detection, and manual reviews. These tools aim to detect and remove cheaters as quickly as possible across both paid multiplayer games and the free-to-play Warzone.
While Ricochet has improved the cheating situation over time—games were once far more plagued by cheaters—its performance in Black Ops 6’s launch has fallen short of expectations. Ranked Play, in particular, has suffered the brunt of this issue.
“After a series of updates, our systems are in a better place today across all modes; however, we did not hit the mark for the integration of Ricochet Anti-Cheat at the launch of Season 01 – particularly for Ranked Play,” Activision states.
What’s Changing for Ricochet in Black Ops 6?
Activision highlights some immediate improvements to Ricochet and its ongoing efforts to clean up Black Ops 6:
- Faster leaderboard “cleanups” to ensure fair rankings.
- An expanded team dedicated to manually reviewing suspicious gameplay clips.
- Enhanced Replay Investigation tools, which capture and validate gameplay clips of suspected cheaters.
Activision says these improvements have helped train Ricochet’s AI detection systems to be more effective. Yet, they acknowledge that further action is required.
Looking ahead, Activision promises “major updates” to Ricochet during Black Ops 6 Season 2 and Season 3. These updates will include:
- Enhancements to the kernel-level driver.
- New server-side protections aimed at detecting and removing cheaters faster.
Activision says more details will arrive as the new seasons approach.
Why Ranked Play Must Be a Priority
Unfortunately, no multiplayer game can fully eliminate cheating. With millions of players across Black Ops 6 and Warzone, it’s inevitable to encounter bad actors. However, the current state of Ranked Play has hit players hard. For a mode that caters to the most competitive and dedicated fans, cheaters have turned the experience into a frustrating grind.
Ranked Play is crucial for Activision and Treyarch. Not only does it attract the game’s most loyal and influential players, but it also serves as a showcase for Call of Duty’s competitive scene. Ensuring it remains clean and fair is key to maintaining player trust and satisfaction.
Final Thoughts
Cheaters might always find ways to exploit systems, but Black Ops 6 players deserve better—especially in Ranked Play. With Activision promising significant upgrades to Ricochet anti-cheat in upcoming seasons, the community can hope for a more level playing field soon.
