It’s out now on Steam for Windows, made by solo developer Jonah of Drifting Minds Studio<\/strong>, for $4.99<\/strong>, with 20% off until 6 November. This is an Indie Spotlight, not a review: we haven’t played it. Here’s what the developer has shown and told us.<\/p>\n

How does Escape From Chronos work?<\/h2>\n

You drag gods from the Pantheon to any spot beside the road, even mid-wave, and choose who each one targets first. Nothing is tied to a slot. Each god plays differently: Zeus<\/strong> chains lightning, Hephaestus<\/strong> lobs splashing fire, Hades<\/strong>‘ kills pay extra gold and Hecate<\/strong>‘s curses strip armour. Every god has an ultimate<\/strong> that’s ready again each wave, and at level 5 each one picks one of two permanent specialisations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What are the Titan bosses?<\/h2>\n

Eight Titans each try to break your plan: Prometheus<\/strong> snuffs out your ready ultimates, Mnemosyne<\/strong> makes nearby gods forget their upgrades, Hyperion<\/strong>‘s light disables every god near him, and Chronos<\/strong> fractures time so every god freezes while his legion marches on. Each battlefield has its own hazard and music, across 126 waves.<\/p>\n

Is there progression between runs?<\/h2>\n

Yes. Clear a mini-boss wave and you draft one of 21 relics<\/strong> for that battle. Every battle, won or lost, earns Favor for permanent boons and 45 cosmetic recolours. Lose, and the end screen shows what broke through, your worst wave and which gods did the damage.<\/p>\n

Does Escape From Chronos use AI?<\/h2>\n

Yes, and Jonah discloses it openly. The Steam page says the character, enemy and environment art was generated with AI tools, then curated, edited and integrated by the developer. The music and sound are synthesised by the game’s code with no audio files, and the code, music scores included, was written with AI assistance.<\/p>\n

Will it run on my PC or handheld?<\/h2>\n

It’s light: any 64-bit dual-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, integrated graphics and 400 MB of storage. It fits on one 1280\u00d7800 screen, so it suits handheld PCs, and has four text sizes, colourblind health bars and options for screen shake, flashes and damage numbers. It’s English only, with 36 achievements, and no microtransactions or account.<\/p>\n
