The Snake: Gridbreaker release date<\/strong> is Tuesday, 3 November 2026<\/strong>, when the game launches in Steam Early Access<\/strong> on PC. It takes the Snake you played on old phones and turns it into a run-based combat roguelite: you still eat and grow, but your tail becomes a weapon, enemies hunt you, and the grid itself tries to keep you trapped.<\/p>\n

Snake: Gridbreaker is made by solo developer Arkadiusz W\u0142odarczyk, and a free demo<\/strong> is on Steam right now. He’s been updating it every week or two, most recently on 18 October.<\/p>\n

When is the Snake: Gridbreaker release date?<\/h2>\n

Snake: Gridbreaker comes out in Early Access on 3 November 2026<\/strong>, according to its Steam page. An exact unlock time hasn’t been announced. It’s on PC through Steam, with Windows and Linux listed. No console versions have been announced, but the developer says Steam Deck readiness is one of the things he wants to improve during Early Access.<\/p>\n

What is Snake: Gridbreaker?<\/h2>\n

It’s classic Snake rebuilt as a combat roguelite. You’re trapped inside a “living grid loop” that wants to keep you in, and every run is a fight to escape before the Grid adapts and pulls you back. The game is upfront about its attitude: “There is no tutorial. The Grid does not explain itself. It tests you.”<\/em><\/p>\n

You still eat to grow longer and stronger, but then you start breaking the old rules. Your tail can burn, shock, freeze, bite and devour<\/strong> enemies. You pick, stack and evolve more than 80 upgrades<\/strong>, find strange powerups and take cursed mutations<\/strong> that give you power at a price. Between runs, 16 permanent upgrades<\/strong> make you stronger, and shops, roulettes and secret rooms are hidden around each run.<\/p>\n

What snake classes are there?<\/h2>\n

Your class changes how the classic formula works. According to the store page, classes let you phase through forbidden paths, chain speed, build around greed, or survive with armor. The class screen in the demo shows five: a Balanced<\/strong> snake, a Tank<\/strong> snake, a Speed<\/strong> snake, a Ghost<\/strong> snake and a Greedy<\/strong> snake.<\/p>\n

Each class has its own mastery track. Since the 18 October update, finishing Mastery III<\/strong> on a class unlocks a permanent style for it, along with a mastery seal and portrait.<\/p>\n

What enemies and sectors are in the game?<\/h2>\n

There are 12 enemy types<\/strong>, plus hazards that reshape your route. Each sector changes the pressure:<\/p>\n
