But because it runs Windows on Arm, many games run through Microsoft’s Prism emulator: Tom’s Hardware couldn’t get Red Dead Redemption 2 to run at all, and Gizmodo found emulated games load more slowly than on a normal laptop. For gaming or everyday use, they find it too expensive, with weaker battery life than Apple’s MacBook Pro.

How much is the Surface Laptop Ultra?

It starts at $2,599.99 in the US and £2,599 in the UK for 24GB of memory and 512GB of storage. A 32GB / 1TB model is $3,699.99, and configurations go up to 128GB and 2TB.

What is the Surface Laptop Ultra’s battery life?

Microsoft claims up to 15 hours of video playback. Reviewers measured about 10.5 to 10.75 hours in Wi-Fi tests at 150 nits, and Notebookcheck measured only 4.5 hours at full brightness.

Can the Surface Laptop Ultra play games?

Yes, with DLSS, ray tracing and Reflex, but it runs Windows on Arm. Some games run through emulation and load more slowly, and Tom’s Hardware couldn’t run Red Dead Redemption 2.

What chip is in the Surface Laptop Ultra?

NVIDIA RTX Spark, which combines an up to 20-core NVIDIA Grace CPU with a Blackwell RTX GPU and up to 128GB of unified memory.

Does the Surface Laptop Ultra have an OLED screen?

No. It has a 15-inch Mini-LED touchscreen that reaches 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness.
